Since fitting a clear cover screen protector and plastic case protector my 5800 does not illuminate it's screen when a call comes in. It works perfectly otherwise and the screen comes on after I hit the screen guard! Any ideas folks?

At a guess I would say that the screen protector you've got is an 'Invisible shield'?
If so, the problem is that the proximity sensor is being covered. This is a sensor which turns the display (and touch screen) off when you put the phone to your ear. This is to prevent your face accidentally cutting someone off or doing some other random thing.
The proximity sensor is the small oval area about 5mm to the right of the earpiece as you look at the front of the phone.
Peel the screen protector back and carefully cut this bit away with a pair of scissors - be careful not to scratch your screen when you do this - that would be ironic!!

Yes you were 100% right! The clear plastic cover was the culprit. I cut it away as advised and it's cured.
