New to 5800 and Forum

Hi All,

Pretty new to the forum, just posted about my N73 on that forum for some help and thought I would do the same here 😊

My wife has just had a 5800 on Orange and I love it.

I understand from searching and reading (always good thing to do on these forums) that as it is on Orange, V2.0 of the firmware is not yet available through Nokia but will be very soon. I presume this will just be updatable through the Nokia Software Update program??

The other question is, my Wife wishes to use it as her PDA/Calender functionality linked to her Work Laptop (which operates Office Outlook 2007 on an Exchange Server)

How do I get it synced up to use this via blue tooth?

The laptop has bluetooth, and I am of the understanding she can just sit down near the laptop and it will auto sync with the exchange outlook on her laptop? Am i way off the mark or is this possible a different way?

Another Question - What version of TOMTOM is applicable to this phone? From research i can't seem to find any version that will work. Can anyone help?

any help very much appreciated!

Rich

Can' help with the sync problem, but as the above user says, TomTom is not available for this handset and probably won't be either - they didn't even update their software to work on the N95!

Your best bet is to use the free 90 day trial for Nokia Maps and hope that by the time it runs out that Copilot has been released for the 5800 - it's by far the bast SatNav out there (IMHO anyway!)

Ahhhh is Nokia Maps a cost option is it 😞 Thought it was free...

do you have to register it to get things moving or does it just work?

Whats copilot? will it be downloadable and whats the cost?

Thanks for the info on TOmtom 😊

Can't remember the exact cost of Nokia Maps. To activate your free 90 day trial, enter a destination then select Drive To.
Then follow the prompts on screen and the phone will guide you through it. It might be an idea to download your maps on your PC with Nokia Maploader if you haven't got unlimited data in your price plan though.

Copilot, like I said is probably the best SatNav available for mobiles IMHO.
I don't think it's downloadable, it comes on a memory card, but more info here..http://www.alk.com/copilot/copilot-store.asp
There's also GoogleMaps if you don't want turn by turn guidance, and it's free too..

Hope this helps....
