Opening the device

The cable between the monitor and the mainboard in my communicator is not attached properly inside. How hard is it to open the device, fix it and then close it again?

Or do I have to send it to nokia?

It's not really difficult, but like Godfather said, you'll loose your guarantee... if you still want to open it, don't rush it... I trashed mine while opening it.

but some hints;
there are screws under the sticker on to upside,
and under the rubber "feet" on the backside,
and under the SIM or MMC card...

and when you're done it should look like this: [accept for the bird that is...]

as I bought it 1.5 years ago, the warranty is out. I talked to nokia reklamation and told them i think it is a production fault. We agreed that I send the phone to them and they will look at it.

WOW there is a company on ebay website selling different colour 9210 phone screens I think I might just attempt to open 9210i up to change my phone screen colour!

Does this one you opened up been put back together? Does it work? How did you open the metal hinges  , these are difficult :x , maybe you could give use a step by step guide?

Hey this is fantastic, now you can have the cover painted in a special colour or even have a photo of your loved one printed on it!

😃 😃 WOW, I will seriously think about opening mine up now! WOW WOW 😃 😃

Please offer advice on the best way to open it bit by bit! 😉

I think that I may just open the top cover and bottom one, I want to have these sprayed in a metallic colour or even a flip tone colour, similar to the paint on my colleagues 😃 TVR tuscan 😃 - it changes shade several times when you walk around the car 😃 😃 , but it costs 5k! 😞

Thanks anyway for your caution advice, don't you get board of the same colour 9210i?

Well why don't you open your's up first and let me know how you got on?

I've put it together a while ago, and it worked fine... after a while I wrecked the cable from the mainboard to the inside-screen, then I opened it up again, and it's still in parts... I'm still not shure if I'm going to try and fix it or sell the remaining parts and buy a 2nd 9210i, which I still prefer.

this one [a 9210] is for my girlfriend, but she's in no rush, since her old phone is still functioning fine...

I also have a Nokia Communicator 9000 [prehistoric model], these are much more trouble opening up...

I just want to open the top cover and bottom cover is this easy? What I plan to do is have these sprayed in a special colour, do you think I should take the risk? Will that little wire you mentioned have any chance od getting damaged if I just opened these 2 covers?

The cover on the bottom isn't that easy since it's made in 3 parts, including the battery of course. The cover on the upside is much easier, and I would suggest just spraying that one...

The small wire itself does not damage easy, but it can get stuck between small metal clips, so take your time when you diside to open the bottom half as well...

Almost forgotmy Nokia 9000 is still functioning as well, check it out:

Grandpa and grandson... I love evolution 😃

Right as soon as i've found someone who can spray the cover, i'ii open the top 😃 , as for the bottom, i'ii have to think about it, it seems that is quite hard and difficult 😞 😞 by what you say!

What a bloody BRICK! 😮 😮 😮

I used to have the 9110, never had that 9000, that is a pure BRICK! OH my I can't stop laughing at the size of the darn thing!😃 😃 😃 😃 😃

Funny thing is that it's about twice as heavy, and has a battery-life of about 4 hours... when your not making calls. after you charge it and remove the adapter it already goes back to three stripes of power after 5 seconds... 😃
