7650 + Mac experiences

Hello again all.

I thought I'd post my recent experiences with the 7650 and Mac OS X.

I have succesfully managed to transfer contacts, and files both to and from the phone using the bluetooth functionality built into Mac OS 10.2.3.

There is no easy way to sync right now, but seeing as support for vcards is built into both systems, it surely wouldn't be that hard to create something. I'll look into it when I have time.

I'm using a USB bluetooth adaptor, which I have used on a PC (prior to the mac) with the Widcomm drivers (I believe its a Mitsumi).

The process was painless, and doesn't require any additional software.

I hope to see Apple supporting the Symbion phones in the future, but its nice to see that two can work happily together even at this stage.

Bye for now,

Dan.

I tried to make my dad's powerbook comunicate with my 7650 via the build in IR, but the powerbook only see the phone, and then it doesn't seem like i can do anything further. With my laptop (PC) with buil in IR it work'd perfect... Why don't the mac work?

Nokia provides NO software for the Mac, but thanks to Apple at least we can transfer files using Bluetooth. There are some apps for other Nokia phones that allow you to use IR but none that I know of for Series 60.

I own a 3650 and can transfer files to/from my Mac very easily.

I can also send contacts but only one at a time. There is a thread over in the Apple forums where some people have their 7650 working properly with the Address book for sending SMS etc but it seems not to work with my 3650.

Hopefully, someone will write something soon..

Paul

Same here. I tried to transfer some some pictures from 7650 to iMac. Computer recognises the phone via IrDA, but nothing else is available. Just error message when trying to send pictures to iMac.

With PC and IrDA it works just fine.

Let's hope something happens, preferably soon. 🙄

Also fails with latest iSync?

Don't know because iMac I'm using has regrettably OS 9.1.

Has anyone tried (latest) iSync with IrDA? Is it possible to transfer pictures too to the computer?

I use a Mac (G3 Blue and White) with Mac OS X (10.2.6) and a Kondor Bluetooth adaptor (From CarPhoneWareHouse).

iSync has worked since I have had the BT adaptor and find easier using BT with the Mac and IR with PC.

I am not sure though if Mac can use IR to iSync with 7650. Would be interested to know if it can be done.

I've managed it fine over bluetooth.

Had to upgrade the mac software over the weekend though, currently running on:

OS X 10.2.8
ical 1.5.1
isync 1.3

Updates contacts, address book, calander, even syncs any photo's you have on the contacts with the ones on the address book.
