Now firmly ensconced back in Scotland, Ewan lets his hair down (literally) to spend some time with the new Nokia E75. Thanks for the positive comments on the 5800 video diaries - this is the first in a series of (roughly) 8 diary entries featuring the E75, in similar irreverent vein. Roll the credits!

Holy crap a Nokia 7650 ! Dude I am SO jealous !
Hey, two quick questions ..
1) Is the QWERTY keyboard backlit?
2) Do you only ever paint you left thumbnail or do you mix and match 😉
Hey Ewan, now that you have spent time with the 5800 and E75, which do you prefer? I know they are different phones but I am looking to get a new Nokia for the sake of it. I currently have the E71 so am leaning towards the 5800..... interested in the opinion of someone that's used them both. Cheers 😊
Hi Ewan,
first of all I have to say that I do love your videos as well as the AAS podcast
However, you made a mistake. The E75 can be charged via microUSB
All the best,
Norman John
wow 7650 does it actually work? Loving this music, its much better than your previous 5800 choice. How many phones do you actually own that are yours and not testers and what ones are they?
Right then, some short answers here (maybe more depth in the next video!)
Yes that's a 7650. Yes it still works. And if I could get a 320x240 screen, Wifi and S60 v3 in it, it's still my favourite form factor
Yes the keyboard is backlit, and rather funkily only lights up when you can enter text.
Good catch re the USB - as I had this with me in the states I was only using the EEE PC which didn't have enough current by the looks of it.
I'mloath to say phone a over phone because it is always subjective. i'd suggest waiting to the end of this series, and compare it to the 5800 and decide yourself on what you see
As we've said before, any tester phones we recieve are all on loan from Nokia, and if we like certain handsets, we will head out and buy them ourselves.
Great video, I like the style!
This may be slightly off topic but having watched some of Ewan's travels round the USA i'm intruiged as to how he GTDs? on an S60 device? (apologies if this was covered by a video I missed)
I juggle between a Palm Centro and N95 but it's very messy!!
Does anyone know when S60 will support categories??
well, first let me say that its a very well made video and nice review, i did review the e75 earlier on but your is better i should say! BTW, saw your pic on on sybian guru today! looked nice on the n97!
Looking forward for these series of videos, Could you possibly go into the multimedia features of the phone? I know it's a business minded phone, however I'm fed up of waiting for the N97.This seems pretty tempting for a guy who sends ~500 texts and long emails in a month, and loves his music and photo-snapping.. I can wait for the Omnia HD release next month, but I'm sure as hell not waiting till the end of june. My 6630 is in time for its retirement now.
Ewan you're like a hairy version of the energizer bunny. Nice Vid diary... was hoping to get some E75s for work.
If you like your keyboard I'm not sure the Omnia HD is for you.
The E75 is ok for multimedia (better than the E71), but its not as a good as the 5 mpx Nseries etc.

I'm pretty comfortable typing long emails on my ipod touch, even though it has way too much input lag.The overlapping keypresses you were experiencing on the device are not an issue for me since I had learned to touch type on an old typewriter which wouldn't type if you hit two keys at once(since the heads would get stuck), so even though I use my thumbs to type on touchscreen devices I always take off one thumb before pressing another.
Right now I cant decide, It's either an all out messaging device with little emphasis on multimedia or tons of multimedia features at the cost of a physical keyboard. I am in no way a business-man, Infact I'm just a college student, the emails I type are usually for getting in contact with overseas relatives who use Gmail or hotmail. That said, I found my Ipod touch (and sometimes even the 6630) very handy to keep soft copies of study notes and assignments sent by lecturers.
tactile feedback is not an issue for me. I've used my friend's HTC touch pro and found that there's no real difference in typing speed (in my case) between that and my ipod.I don't mind poking a glass pane either..
Great stuff, another video diary with Ewan.
You're always merry and all, really good to see.
I will however say that you can be a bit too much of a funny guy sometimes, but that all really adds up to the balance of the three of you (Rafe, Steve and Ewan).
Looking forward to the next part in this series.
Really enjoyed the 5800 videos as things was very well explained with good comparison examples.
Really enjoyed this review, nice to see someone with a bit of personality reviewing a phone for a change.
Just for your information the E75 does charge via USB please be accurate in your reviews!!!!!!!
