N85 / wifi / iplayer issues

Hola! Need some advice - Just got myself an N85 - While I've worked out how to use my home Wi-Fi to browse the internet on the phone - when I try to use the BBC iplayer, it connects via Contract Wap instead of my home WiFi.

Is there any way I can change this / so it connect via wifi instead of Contract WAP?

Cheers in adcance or any advice!

Who is your network provider? Is it Orange? Every phone i have had with them they try and 'control' as many of the functions as possible. They load their own software set up which alters the default settings

I would recommend you go into the settings of the 'web' option and the 'General' tag. Under 'access point' change this to always ask.

It will allow you to select either your network (from when you are away from a WiFi point) or your WiFi access point.

Personally I always have my default screen set as bookmarks, this gives methe added security to select the page I want and how I want to access it

It is in the operators financial interest to try and get you to browse on Wap!

My own N85 has done this 'self selection' of network. Its a great phone, but it does have a lot of bugs in the software.

If you reload settings or even take out the Sim it could change these back to what the operator wants.

Its still a great phone though:icon14:

Try the following.

1. Goto Menu - Tools - Settings - Connection - Destinations - Internet.

2. Highlight your wlan connection from the list and then press Options - Organise - Change Priority.

3. Move up to the top of the list and press OK. You should then notice your Wlan connection is now "Priority: 1".

4. Press back then press options on the "Internet", then select "Default Connection".

5. Try loading BBC iPlayer again and see what it does.

I am Also on Orange and my phone was Orange branded, the above worked for me.
