Alternative to Mobipocket reader for 5800

I used to have a Nokia E61 and really liked using Mobipocket reader to download RSS feeds to my PC and then transfer them in a simple sync to my mobile. It downloads headlines and short description PLUS the full text of articles when syncing. This allows me to download a complete set of news stories cached on the mobile so I can read them anywhere, like on the bus without having to incur wireless data charges.

I've now got a Nokia 5800 and have found that unfortunately Mobipocket doesn't work very well on S60 V5 and from what I've read it seems unlikely they'll bother creating a version especially for it.

Can anyone suggest a good alternative which has similar functionality to Mobipocket? I've tried AvantGo but that has a similar issue in that it doesn't work well on S60 V5.

Regards,
Phill

I received this communication from eReader at ereader.com:

Sorry, right now we do not support this phone.

We are working on a version of our eReader reading software for this platform (Symbian OS 9.4 + S60 platform 5th Edition), however, we do not have an exact release date at this time.

I would be surprised if Mobipocket didn't also, especially once the N97 hits. I suspect we just need to be patient and read public domain books in our office apps for now. 🙄

Thanks for the reply. Does eReader allow you to download RSS feeds to a PC and then sync them to your Symbian phone? This is now of the beauties of Mobipocket. I had a look at the eReader site and couldn't see anything about syncing.

No, it is strictly an ebook reader. I simply brought it up because I think it indicates more and more companies are upgrading for the 5800, and I would be surprised if Mobipocket didn't also.
