www.mobiletinyurl.com has launched, a way of creating mobile-friendly (i.e. avoiding too much character multi-touch) URLs for phones. The service is free and apparently works for all content types, not just for HTML pages. Will it catch on - comments welcome!

Ha! That's genius!... Whether or not it'll catch on is another story... but as a novelty that is brilliant - the factoids about how many keypresses saved as well is quite amusing.
I think the world needs to first get more inclined to webbing on their mobile (which to be fair is on its way, but mainly [mainstreamly] in blackberries and iphones which have qwerty pads or mock qwerty pads)
Seems like a very odd solution to me, I think esyURL's Mowser integration makes a lot more sense, when you go to an esyURL short url on your phone you get a page prompt that asks you if you'd like to go to the original or view a mobilized version powered by Mowser.

I'd rather use QR codes to transfer a URL to my mobile. Kaywa Reader is my choice.
I like this idea.
I prefer to use QR-codes, but this works too - one doesn't preclude the other, especially since I use the 'Mobile Barcoder' and it works wonderfully with Kaywa Reader. I don't mind the choice though 😊
I guess it should be pointed out that the benefit is only realised with phones that use the t9? I suppose, it might actually be a disadvantage, albeit slight, to those using qwerty keyboards...
