Hi,

I know that copilot live 7 is said to be compatable with the e71. However does anyone know if copilot live 6 works also?

cheers

I could never get 7 to work, and ended up with Route 66

I recently purchased an E71-2 and I currently use Copilot Live 6 on a WM6 PPC. While I was researching GPS packages for the E71, I came upon update install files (.SIS) for Copilot Live 6 on ALK's support site. I installed and it ran all the way up to where it was asking for my registration code. So apparently it would not allow a trial period. Looked like the same registration format for the WM device, but I stopped there and went no further. But every indication was that it would take off and run upon registration. I don't know if the maps are compatible, but in reading other threads and forums I assume they are.

If you already have CPL6 and want to try your luck with your registration code you could try the software at ALK's site. Since I'm new here, I can't post links yet. Goto the ALK UK website and click on the support link. Choose "Symbian" in the "Search by Product" drop down selector and then click the Search button. The S60 Versions 2 & 3 software links are on the first page.

FWIW. I made several calls and emails to ALK about getting the Symbian version of Copilot 7 with NA maps. I was constantly given links to the UK site to purchase an upgrade with UK maps. I would then have to purchase NA maps separately. Much more $$$$ this way. A user on another forum indicated that he had gotten ALK to provide a link to the Symbian version for free after purchasing the WM NA version. Could never get a response from that person and ALK NA support didn't even know anything about the Symbian version until I gave them the links from the UK site over the phone.

In the end, I finally went with Garmin Mobile XT. It has been working fine. Some things better than CP, some not. But it gets the job done....

From memory I did manage to get CP installed, but either couldn't get past the registration (you can use the same code you use on WM, as long as you don't have it active on another device), or the app didn't work for some reason - it was a while ago.

I too got directed to the wrong place for the SIS (UK version here though).

Not a great experience
