Reader Andy Cook is another of us wistfully looking back to Agenda on the Psion palmtops. Will it ever be matched? Certainly not so so far. His Nokia 9300 (running Symbian OS and the Series 80 UI) has a slightly stunted version but it's still ahead of all competition, according to this review of the iPhone's Calendar and the third party app Pocket Informant over here on one of my stomping grounds.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the mention.
I should point out I use Aquacalendar on my Nokia 9300 not the native Nokia calendar (which seems roughly on par with the iPhone calendar to me).
My decision not to move over to the iPhone was mainly down to the Calendar being too simplistic. I'd now be happy to use Pocket Informant but there are also a few other issues stopping me from making the move just yet (though the new iPhone may well help clear those up).
If only someone could just replicate Agenda for the Nokia... sigh.
Andy.
I've found the recent discussions very interesting. I have an E71 which I've been trying to use to replace my Palm TX, but the calendar and todo functions just don't do it for me. The third party applications suffer from the same limitations as the built-in calendar and nothing seems to touch DateBk5 on the TX.
The inability to turn off display of upcoming Todos in the home screen on the E71 is particularly annoying. Memo Nokia; it it's not due for 2 weeks, it's not really a 'todo' yet. At the same time, if there is space on the screen to list my three current 'Todos' why not just do so instead of telling me I have 3 things to do? What are they? Mow the lawn? Invade Iraq? On the other hand, the fact that alarm notifications eventually disappear off the screen is just a no-no. I should have to actually dismiss them (or at least be able to choose that option). Many of the other issues have been mentioned by previous posters so no need to re-state them. So still a fair way to go, I do hope the Symbian people realise the PDA functions are an issue and are addressing them in future versions.
the solution is simple.....
buy and use a Psion 3mx - the best ever PDA
