I have an annoyance with the headphones mode - whenever I'm listening to music in my headphones and I receive a message, the headphones go silent and the music comes blaring out my phone's speaker for one second. It may not seem like a big deal but if I'm snoozing on a crowded train early in the morning and suddenly my speaker blares out music it startles the begeezus out of me (and those around me.)
Anyone else experience this or have a workaround? My phone is in silent mode, no ringtone, ringtone volume muted, but it still blares out music (at the music's volume!) I'm not sure if it happens with calls.
This is a strange one - I'm pretty sure it's not standard as I use mine to listen to audiobooks all day and when I get a call or a text it plays through the headphones (and still scares the sh** out of me!!!) and only the headphones.
Maybe this is a firmware glitch, what version are you running?
You could try a soft reset first, then if that fails maybe a '3 finger salute', if you are on v20 or above.
Let me know if this works...
rebooting has no effect
my wife's 5800 phone also has the same "feature"... actually it played her message tone in the headphones and the speaker. Mine didn't do that, it continued to play music not the ringtone... but hers and mine used the speaker even though we were in headphones mode.
we're using 20.0.012
what's a 3-finger salue?

Very strange! I haven't got my phone here to try it out, but I'm fairly sure mine doesn't do that - I'll try it when it comes back from the menders.
The 3 finger salute is a hard reset which will erase everything and set your phone back to a 'new from the factory' mode. Please backup anything important first!
To do the salute, turn the phone off, then hold the Green, Red and Camera buttons and turn the phone back on. Hold the buttons down until you see the Nokia Handshake. Hopefully this will work.
edit:-Just as an after thought, you are using the headphones that came with the phone, and the media controller cable are you?
If not, maybe try it out - I know when you use the media controller cable the phone doesn't ask you which enhancement you are connecting but automatically selects headset mode, but when you don't it asks you to select headphones, line out, tv out etc...
Not sure if this will make a difference, but it may be worth a try...
Hi my nokia 5800 is doing the saame thing. Blasting out the speakers when i recieve a message, whilst headphones are plugged in. Did anyone resolve this problem ? Thanks 😊
I think playing the message tone through both speakers and headphone is an intended feature (don't ask me why). However, playing the music definitely isn't. Have you spoken to Nokia about it? They will probably want you to send it to them which I know is a pain...
