Is there any diadvantage to installing apps on memory card?

I've done some searching here and elsewhere, but nothing on point, which may indicate this is no big deal.

Right now, I have everything installed on the phone (still have about 50 Mb memory free). Is there any advantage aside from freeing up memory to installing apps on the memory card instead?

I used to keep all my Palm TX apps in main memory because apps on the card started up slower and it was a problem if I needed to switch out cards. I plan on getting a 16Gb micro SDHC card and I don't think car switching will be an issue here.

Is there anything to watch out for if apps are installed on the memory card? Or is that just fairly normal in the Symbian world?

Thanks for your help.

it has been said that if you load apps on the memory card, and if you have a bad app which crashes the phone , you can just take out the card and the phone will work ok..

😊 IMHO : there is no disadvantage . Only advantages . The Phone keeps running smooth and speedy . Some Apps need the the device disc , but these will be automatically be installed there .
After a firmware update or hard reset : when starting-up the device the apps will be installed again . They are not lost , since they are stored on the Card ! After the rebooth is done , you can see in Application Manager , which Apps are not installed yet .( Reason : cetificate untrusted or ran out of date ) . These Apps you can now install manually . In case out of date : setting Clock back e.g. 1/2 or 1 year or so .
For Apps running in JAVA : use Nokia MIDlet Restorer
