In All About Symbian Insight 69 (AAS Podcast 127) Rafe, Ewan and Steve talk about Bobba, operating billing on the Ovi Store, v21 firmware for the Nokia 5800 and the new N-Gage game - Age of Empires III. Rafe then reports back in detail from the Nokia Developer Summit 2009. You can listen to AAS Insight 69 here or, if you wish to subscribe, here's the RSS feed.

A couple of things:

- Does the new 5800 firmware still break iPlayer, or have they fixed that?

- It was interesting hearing Rafe's comments on whatever the new mail client is called this week, and the fact that 'push' will be pay-for, otherwise it's free. That would explain why, running my mail-on-ovi account using Profimail, they dropped IMAP IDLE a few weeks ago.

No the BBC iPlayer download function is broken at present under the latest 5800 firmware, so if you use the BBC iPlayer DON"T update your firmware

That somebody who posted the changelog was me 😉 Yes v21 does kill iPlayer downloads, but as the BBC say it was never supported in the first place, so we might not see it back.

I was interested in the section in the podcast on the Gmail app. I have just downloaded the latest Java Gmail client from m.google.com and I was delighted to discovered that its touch screen enabled on the 5800. After changing the Java settings and removing the nasty onscreen d-pad I now have a lovely full screen GoogleMail app. Yum!
