Hi all, i was going to upgrade from my e70 to the e71 and now im surpriced to see that the e71x is being offered by att (which i have). even though the e71x is just starting to be offered, does anyone know what the pros and cons are of each model when compared?
as of now what i've read are a couple pros for the e71x...feature pack 2 and street by street GPS, hower I am partial to the silver (or grey) color scheme of the e71-2. However, i was browsing ebay and the entire plastic face panels are for sale for like $20 so that would fix that issue :tongue: . Any thoughts are appreciated.
any thoughts? I'm thinking I may order the e71x this weekend.

The E71X is actually more expensive because you're paying $360 on top of the $99 subsidized price you pay due to the twice as expensive data plan you have to pay for two years (assuming you keep all other aspects of your AT&T plan constant).
And contracts suck.
Personally, I think the silver/gray design scheme of the E71 is far better looking than the black scheme of the E71x even though I usually like black. To me, the E71 is the classiest and most beautiful phone on the market right now (or ever for that matter).
yeah, i went to the store and came back without upgrading because i didnt know ATT wanted to stick the expensive data plan with the new phone!
Im going to do a bit more HW because I want to know if the e71x is worth the extra money. I mean, when it comes down to it...is the Feature Pack 2 and road by road GPS worth the extra cash?
Like i said, i agree with you on the silver look...its better...but as of now I havent read that you can get the road by road GPS on the regular e71-2 and ofcourse that comes with Feature Pack 1.

Typically the replacement face plates on ebay scratch and ware away easily. I've ordered two from different suppliers and it was the same in both cases. I also believe I heard of a deal on at&t's website that you can get it for one cent. Try looking into it.

well i ended up giving the e71x a try and I must say i was a bit dissapointed. I then went into e71fanatics blog and did some more hw and i may return this thing and get an unlocked e71-2. Some of the small features that i remember liking about the e71 were taken out by att on the 71x. The only real benefits of the 71x are the FP2....which in its self is not alot and ATTs GPS service.
Im still reading up on stuff but if I can find a GPS service that is matches the Telenav software for the e71 im returning the e71x...either that or seeing if this thing can be reflashed to unlocked firmware.
I also took the phone to a concert and for some reason the video i recorded seems to be of less quality than the ones i took on my E70, which makes no sense because the camera on the 71x is supposed to be better.
