Hard reset the 5800

I think I know how to do a hard reset on my 5800:

Press and hold GREEN + RED + CAMERA when powering up.

Keep the keys pressed until you get the shaking hands. That should fully reset the device, with a lock code of 12345.

This is only available on phones with 20.0.012 or later.

I don't even remember where I got this, but likely it was either here or Symbian-Guru.

First, can anyone here confirm this procedure.

Second, are there any surprises I should watch out for? I'm not worried about losing data or apps, everything is backed up multiple times and places. But are there any system tricks that may throw me? Things like getting locked out of my device because I didn't know some special trick.

I'm not having any troubles at all. I just will feel better if I know I can do it if I need to, so I want to do it and see what happens.

Any advice appreciated. 😊

I can confirm that this works Hook.

Doesn't throw any tricks at you, and doesn't even ask for an unlock code unless you had one set before.
One thing to look out for is that sometimes the keypad defaults to letters rather than numbers, so if and when you enter your code, just check it's numbers you're entering rather than letters.

I have used this '3 finger salute' a few times with no probs.

Oh, and just to confirm, it will wipe everything back to a 'fresh from factory' condition.

Hope this helps!
