Hello
A few month ago I bought a N95. I now wish to install a few software on it.
I have two questions :
1) I want to start by Cclock, and I need to know which version of software I have.
On the downloading page I read, it's written that Cclock is for S60 3rd to 5th edition.
My N95 is a 30.0.015. So which version of S60 do I have ?
2) How do I download it ? Do I download on my PC and then transfer the software on my phone or do I download it directly on my phone ?
Thank you for answering my questions !
Louis
The N95 is based on S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 (FP1) and Symbian OS v9.2. All firmware versions use the same S60/Symbian versions.
You can update the firmware with Nokia Software Updater (NSU). See http://www.nokia.com/softwareupdate for details.
Thank you very much for your answer ! :wavey:
And is it really worth it to update the firmware ?
Is there a real improvement, knowing that my phone is only a few months old ?
Louis
If you have no particular issues/problems with the current firmware version, you could leave it as it is.
Otherwise, or if you want the latest fixes and updated firmware components (whatever they are), then do upgrade. Be careful in saving, backing up your data first (I usually do it with all possible means just in case; I never rely on just one single method.)
All right.
But how do I know 1) which version of the firmware I currently have and 2) what is the version number of the most recent firmware version (I didn't find it on the Nokia site).
My phone maybe has the latest version since it is quite new.

You may download the Nokia Software Updater software from their site free of cost. Install it on your PC. Connect your mobile to PC via cable. Run the software. It will automatically detect your phone, its software and then will connect to internet to see for any updates available. You should have cable drivers already installed on the PC which also comes with PC Suit provided to you on CD in your phone sale package.
Updating phone software is a tricky business, make sure your PC does not shut down during updating (due to any reasons, power failure etc.), your phone is not disconnected from PC, your phone does not shut down during process. With broad band internet (DSL), it takes about roughly 45 minutes to an hour for updating process to accomplish. If anything goes wrong during this crucial moments of updating, you will have a brick in your hands rather having N95.
I updated my phone twice and presently am having v30.0.015. It is the most stable version for N95 with all bugs fixed. An update is available but I will never recommend for updating your phone because the latest version is hack proof and you won't be able to run most of the available cracked third party software. Beside that there are a number of issues with that software so don't ever think of updating your software version as it is the best.
You may check your phone software version by typing *#0000#
Enjoy your brilliant N95, the more you use it the more you become N95 addict.
Cheers

Well, I also have 30.0.015 version and since you tell me it's the most stable version I won't upgrade it. Thank you very much for your answer Ejaz.
By the way, I'd like to install Cclock as a screensaver. I looked at a many images of it but I still don't know if there's something written in korean (or japanese) on the screensaver or not ? Do you know the answer ? Or maybe you know any better screensaver with a digital clock on it ?
Also, I read somewhere that the last version was "Symbian signed". Do you know what that means ?

Dear Louis, I suppose you get yourself registered to zedge.net and there you'll find a lot of stuff you need. There I saw some nice screen savers of digital clock, date etc etc. May be it means the particular application is signed by symbian (signed means you add a certificate to the software to run on N95).

Thanks a lot Ejaz !
But I didn't find a clock fitting what I had in mind.
