After been lyed to over and over again and comming up with shitty games they have lost a lot of the fan base.
I don't think Nokia LIED to anyone, a lot of stuff people assumed was never actually said by Nokia themselves. I agree their game transfer restrictions have been pretty deceptive though.
And to be fair, Nokia's own games are excellent. Things like Reset Generation and Creatures Of The Deep are possibly the best phone games released so far, and their other first party titles have been high quality too. And the first party stuff is only available on N-Gage.
The bad games on N-Gage have almost all been third party, but that situation is improving too as there's been some pretty nice third party titles recently like Age Of Empires III, Worms World Party and Pandemonium.
N-Gage's big problem is the barrier it has placed blocking smaller publishers from publishing on the platform. I've had feedback from third party publishers who wanted to put some pretty nice games on N-Gage but were turned away. It's like Nokia only wanted really big firms to be on N-Gage (EA, Gameloft, THQ etc), which is silly as there are lots of high quality phone games from smaller firms too.
Ovi Store should solve this problem by allowing all small firms (and even self-employed individuals) a way to publish games through official Nokia channels. N-Gage will carry on offering bigger-name titles, and they can be purchased through the Ovi Store client, so Ovi Store and N-Gage will probably complement each other.

Well, it'll have a lot more than just apps, there'll be themes, music tracks, videos, podcasts etc, but yes it is basically the same idea of letting content creators self-publish on the phone itself.
The biggest difference though, which many people have missed, is that Ovi Store will be on Nokia's Series 40 phones too. Nokia S40 phones sell literally hundreds of millions a year, which is several times more than all smartphones put together, so that's a massive audience to tap into.
It'll probably take a while for Ovi Store to make it into every Nokia phone though, Nokia tend to do things gradually instead of having a single launch event. It may be a year before we see Ovi Store going at full speed.
And Tzer keep up the good work. This site is the only one where we can get unbiased opinions on the games.
Thanks! 😊
