When I spoke with the NokiaUSA person on the phone about my N97 preorder, he said that they don't have a recommended belt holder/case for the N97 yet.
With a large touchscreen you need to be worried about scratches (I have two N800's and the cheap suede sleeve that came with one of them let it slip loose in my pocket and my car keys scratched it deeply.
There are protective covering that are available, but they reduce the visibility in certain lighting conditions and simply provide another layer to show scratches.
Has anyone found a good belt clip case for the N97 yet?

The operative word however is BELT-CLIP.
The Nokia CP-323 is a P-O-U-C-H.
The only two belt clip holders in the last hyperlink were:
1. The Nokia CP-282 (a discontinued product and out-of-stock) and questionable as to whether it can hold an N97 properly.
2. The Bugatti Universal Causal Case (a yet-to-be-released product).
I've had problems with the Italian-style leather "fashion" cases in the past as the swivel joint often breaks.
On eBay there is someone offering leather belt/clip cases for the N97. The picture that is shown is a Reiko, but Reiko's own website doesn't list any cases for the N97 so it is suspect.
Meanwhile...while waiting for our pre-ordered N97s to arrive, let's continue looking...
Suppose it'd be hard to make an adequate case for a phone when it hasn't been released yet. I'm considering a case when I get my N97 and Krusell have always made excellent cases* that come complete with Multidapt, which lets you attach a variety of different clips or holders to your case, like belt clips, windscreen holders, car and bike clips.

Is this the sort of thing you were looking for? If so, it might be worth checking their website when the N97 finally starts shipping.
* Except their dynamic N95 cases. They were awful! 😡
