At an event tonight in London, Sony Ericsson has formally launched the 'Idou' concept as the 'Satio'. Rafe's on the spot and will report here shortly in much more detail. See, for example, the AAS Twitter feed. Two other non-smartphones were launched, with equally 'modern' names, it's a new chapter for Sony Ericsson, it seems. The Satio will have its media player integrated with YouTube and Picassa, plus there's full Play Now Arena support. Plus the already-known specs, including the 12 megapixel stills camera and Xenon flash. Much more shortly, including photos, from Rafe. Don't go away....

It's hard to believe SE is so stupid to keep that pop-port but it's true... To me it's a complete failure because of that.
They finally ditched the Memory Stick for good. Getting rid of the pop-port as well would have been too much of a shock to Sony. Give them time. Baby steps. 😃

I do agree but if you are given free wireless BT headphones, makes up for it doesn't it? And Sony make darn good headphones tbh.
S60 5th with a 12.1MP camera? IMO, it wipes the N97 into the dust. Lacks ram though... 128 seems a little limiting.
I hope this is mistake, but 128 mb internal memory is simply not enough!
The 128MB will be the internal flash storage. I bet RAM is 256MB or more....

What was the SX1's keypad like to use by the way? It looks a bit frightening, I had a Nokia 7600 with keys at the side too and I never got used to that...

Just read on Symbian Freak that this phone has OMAP3430 cpu with video acceleration!!
A perfect N82 replacement. Sad it didn't come from Nokia.
That lens looks tiny especially considering that it is 12MPX.
I would worry about the optics and the kind of sensor in this phone. 12MPX is just a selling point for morons to be excited about. As with SE's history I imagine they will do what they normally do and soften the images with an aggressive noise reduction algorithm to hide the face that its got a tiny sensor.
I would still pick the N82 or N86 until I see proof that this 12MPX camera module is properly tested.
Only slightly bigger than a 5800, for me the critical factor will be price. On first glance and on paper at least, there is no other phone out there even in the same race as this. If it is somewhere close to Nokia 5800 pricing then it is mine. Fat chance, I think it will be at least doube the price.
This one moves the game on a bit. About time someone came up with a device that is a credible rival to Nokia products. This is it. Interesting to see the Nokia response.

This looks like a true N82 successor *so* much more than the N86. I'd get it straight away, except that I've decided to wait with upgrading my N82 until a device comes along that also offers HD video recording, and it looks like this doesn't have it.
It will be interesting to see how Nokia responds to this. They have to, don't they? Both the Omnia HD and now the Satio are so much more impressive than the N86. They've got to do something about that, or they're toast in the imaging department.
The modern names of Aino and Yari are actually old Finnish names. Aino for a girl and Yari (phonetically spelled as Jari in Finnish) for a boy. Aino was the 6th popular girls name for girls born in 2008, Jari used to be popular, but is far less popular nowadays.

The SX1 was a very, very good phone. Much better than the N-Gage, faster processor, although slightly less RAM - meant it could play some, but not all, N-Gage games.

As for the 3.5mm slot - thats a strange decision. A2DP is fine to a point, but utterly useless for me when it would be of prime use - down the gym. There isn't a single A2DP headset on the market that can handle anyone who sweats, at least none that don't make you look like Princess effing Leia :frown:
So that makes it two devices wth OMAP3430 (this and i8910) right? Surely Nokia has got 2 respond sometime ths year. If any of these had a qwerty, the N97 would've been soooooooo dead! So come on Nokia, give us an N97 form factor with OMAP3430, XENON, and at least 8mp😊
Who uses such an expensive phone at the gym anyway? That's what a cheap ipod shuffle is for. 3.5" doesn't bother me either way, I hope SE bring out more Symbian phones in the future. Nokia has become too conservative for my liking.

The Motorola S9, one of the first stereo BT headset to hit the market (Jan 2007), is water and sweat resistant.
Nowadays, there are many stereo BT headsets which are two-pieces set, where the BT receiver can be clipped on or put into a pocket, away from sweat; and it can be used with your favourite headphones. For example, look at the Sony-Ericsson HBH-DS205. Or the HTC BH-S100. Or the Nokia BH-214. Or ... you get the idea.

Ahh yes, I forget that phone. I didn't purchase that phone simply because of the form factor. It was a hard decision choosing between the Sendo X and Siemens SX1.
After a steep learning curve, I could type just as fast on the Siemens as with a regular keypad. Still can in fact. It was funny/annoying when somebody would want to send a text from my phone, only to give up 30 seconds later and have me type the text for them.
Another thing I liked about the phone is that the whole year I had it I did not see one other person with the phone. The same is true for my Nokia N82 I've had now for 18 months. It's a shame inregards to the N82, because it's such a good phone it really deserved to be a top seller like the N95 was.
The camera had worse quality than the Nokia 7650, which I was upgrading from. Ahhh, bringing back my childhood memories.
Just in case anyone is thinking of buying them for the gym - the Motorola S9 headphones are NOT sweat-resistant. I had three pairs fail on me due to moisture getting into the main part that sits at the base of your neck. Switched to Sony's DR-BT21G and haven't looked back.

As mouth watering as the specs may be, SE don't exactly has a great track record of releasing products on time. Q4 release? Read December release.
I think a lot of manufacturers (SE and Nokia included) should take a leaf out of Samsung's book when it comes to announcing and releasing 'flagship' devices. Didn't even realise that in addition to the Omnia HD, they're ready to release their Android phone (I7500) next month.

It should be coming with a 3.5mm adapter - my last few walkman phones did, and I have been happily using some high end earphones attached to the remote. Rather this than Apple's iShuffle solution!
