but when i check via NSU..it shows that there is an update available which is 20+,When tried to apply it say my phone is diconnected..
i tried all the USB ports
i tried with XP,Vista and 7
all 32bit and 64 versions of the operating systems as mentioned.

Hmm.. The version of your firmware is the same as many Vodafone branded n78. Is your set simfree? If yes, try to reinstall all Nokia software (remove before reinstalling). But if OTA says no updates available it's probably because you have a branded cell. If that's the case you have to backup your handset, change the product code, update using Nokia Software Updater (to the 21.xxx firmware, reset phone, reinstall applications etc. But please keep in mind that some applications may no longer work (such as MSN Messenger) and that if you have Vodafone their server will no longer ID your phone as elegible for Vodafone Live! etc..

Good luck
