Nokia has revealed that the N97 will go on sale in the UK on Friday 19th June, via the Nokia Regent Street store and at www.nokia.co.uk/shop for £499 SIM free. The Nokia N97 will also be distributed by 3, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U from Friday 26th June, i.e. a week later.

HALLELUJAH!!!! Finally, I'll be able to sleep at night

Hopefully I'll be more patient now there's an official release date.

More than any phone or gadget before, this is the one that I've been awaiting most eagerly. Since I got my N95 8GB, my 'phone' has become the most useful device I have and has taken over some functions from my PC - particularly communicating. However, I've always felt the UI - and specifically the lack of keyboard - has limited it. I'm looking forward to those limits being lifted.

Steve, is it definitely going to come out on the Three network on the 26th June? Where did you get this news?

Fyi. The London store's address is 240 Regent Street, W1B 2EL. Nearest tube is Oxford Circus. It's about 100 yards down Regent Street on the left. Look for Apples shop across the road, its much bigger and easier to spot!

Great news it's coming on Three, just what I wanted to hear. Though will it reall be the 27th June like the rest of them? Also, the PAYG at 369.99 is so cheap compared to the sim free price of 500!! for the sake of 1 week!

Oh and any ideas what colours they will have available. I really want the black version.

@ Inzimam

where did you hear/read that the price of the pay & go model would be 369.99?

Seems way to much cheaper than the simfree option.

Follow the link in the article above. It's unsubstantiated though. It does seem too good to be true. I've preordered it for 500 from Nokia store, but if that gets shipped on the 19th then I might just wait a week and get it on upgrade with Three.

At the moment on Three though I've been offered this 12 month contract, 34 a month for 750 mins, unlimited texts, Tocco Ultra for 70

So judging by that price, I reckon the 199 on a 12 month contract seems about right for the flagship phone. Though they might reduce it a bit for upgrades.

In that case it might be worth just upgrading to Nokia E71 for free, selling it an my Nokia N95 8GB and using the proceeds to buy the N97 on Pay As you Go.

Well the N97's in the video aren't bound for the UK as they have the stylus, which we supposedly aren't getting.......

Look for Apples shop across the road, its much bigger and easier to spot!

And they'll sell you a very nice phone.

I'm waiting to see what the third iPhone due July will look like. The 1st and 2nd had too many limitations, and I prefer a real QWERTY keypad. Many of these software problems have been fixed with the new software.

Let's see what the hardware will be like.

I read somewhere (if I find the link I'll update this post) that the N97 won't be available from o2 directly but you can get it on o2 from Carphone Warehouse. No doubt it will have a Carphone warehouse specific product code which may lead to delays on firmware updates unless you can change product code yourself.

hi its was me who found out the PAYG price (Dan from World Of Nokia). I dont want to get anyone in trouble so will keep the info basic, i used to work for 3 retail and know people in the company still, i saw their price matrix with my own eyes yesterday and the PAYG price was showing 369.99. Now if this will be the price in launch is yet to be seen, but that is the price the company have at the moment 😊

Well that's good to know that the PAYG price is legit. I still don't know how Nokia can charge so much on Pre-Order. Also, how does the 200 for the phone on a 12 month tariff. Might as well get the E71 and the discounted line rental and sell it.

I've had a few phones from carphone warehouse in the past and they normally have standard product codes, so you should be able to get the latest firmware as soon as it's released.
