Cable for update

Would a regular mini usb cable work for updating my Nokia or does it have to be a specific type.

Also would a BL-6F battery be better than a really old BL-5F?

It's an N95-1.

Can someone just check their cable for any model numbers etc that they used to update it? Or is it just a mini usb?

Any regular mini-USB cable should work (I've used one from a Sony DSC with my phone).

I guess my phone is faulty then as i have tried a cable multiple times and i would say 1 in 100 times it actually recognised the phone but couldn't install the drivers for it. The rest of the time it says USB Device has malfunctioned.

Tried all possible thing including different operating systems, different USB ports, different driver and software versions. If i could get it recognised everytime i would have a better chance at getting the drivers installed!

Hi,

Do have backup of your phone data & PC registries then
Uninstall Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Connectivity cable driver, PC Connectivity solution, Nokia flashing cable driver(if any on your PC), Run PC Suite cleaner. Install latest Nokia PC Suite from europe.nokia.com/pcsuite, reboot your pc. Once pc started, connect your phone with USB in different ports of your PC and check 😊
