Does the text messaging show in a conversational view, like an iphone, or single messages

I will wait for the N5000 which will come with Windows 7 Pro,50MP Camera,2 tera byte memory and it will be announced in 2050!!! duh. can you stop that please. people waiting from February for the N97. i will never buy N97,i will wait for the Communicator (if there is communicator) or buy Windows mobile phone but these comments are just non sense. N900 is an internet tablet based on Linux Maemo and no way to compare it with Multimedia device.

I am a iPhone user with some questions 😊
- Can you install new apps over the air through Ovi Store?
- How about Ebook reading? Any Experience? (iPhones Stanza and pdf Readers are awesome)
- Are there things that you can do only in portrait or landscape?
- chances of Ovi Store? 1 Billion apps in 9 months 😊 or will it suck?

thanks

I have been using SMS Export from S60.com for years now.

It's one of the free exclusive utilities that members get. I use it to export SMSs from my Inbox to any destination folder in text format, so that I can easily transfer the exported SMS to PC, PDA or to another phone via Bluetooth/Cable. It is integral to my work.

Will it work on the Nokia N97?

Can you add the same widget more than one time? E.G. to have 8 different application buttons.

try www.octro.com ... video over IP chat

make it popular and watch skype get it to work on their client. 😉

In my experience, you can switch away from realplayer if you do so during the 'loading' phase.

Not irritating at all, apart from this shouldn't be necessary at all.

Excellent jobs you've done, guys!
2 things:
First, is it true N97 comes pre installed with Qik?
Second: if so, does it send directly to youtube/facebook/twitter?

I was wondering if it is possible to edit videos with this thing, as one (almost) could with the good old n95?
And yeah, is it certain that the old sip/voip things will be added later on? Shame if not.

Keep on the good work.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but can the N97 synchronise with iTunes? Or is there some way to get my playlists (and music) from iTunes to my N97?

Does the N97 have gapless playback? And do you have any info on when/if a North American version will be released?

To quote your earlier response to my question on text wrapping in the browser:

"Both 5800 and N97 behave properly, showing you a zoomed window onto the full web page. If you can't read the text then try their mobile site?"

Either you have a completely different 5800 to me or like many others you have not understood what I am getting at with this question! Sure, we get a page overview but my point is with regard to the wrapping of the text when not in overview - ie. when reading a page or zooming to specific content. The 5800 does NOT wrap the text of a normal web page to fit the screen, sideways scrolling is still necessary in the majority of cases. I am guessing the N97 is the same.

Yes, I could always try the mobile site but is one of the main selling points of the N97 not that it provides a 'full' web browsing experience?

I just bought an N97 from the flagship in NYC and im already having a pretty big issue. When the phone is in sleep mode and I try and unlock it with the slider unlock key the back light does NOT turn on. Only when i relock and unlock does the backlight turn on. Has this happened to any of your devices? Is this normal behavior? It's driving me crazy especially since I got the phone a few mins before the store closed and now I have to wait until tomorrow to figure this out. I know a day isnt a big deal to most but for a gadget geek, its like torture. The device is awesome and unlike anything Nokia have release recently. The build quality is superb and that's not a word I usually throw around when describing a Nokia product. Can anyone comment?

Hiya, I've pre ordered the N97 and really love the features and the design the phone offers. However the continuing discussions over the Arm11 cpu running just over 430mz and the Ram at 128 are slightly worrying. I wasn't overly worried about this at first, as I believed the spec to be more than adequate for a mobile device, and anything more was just gimmicky and unnecessary. However with the argument still raging, could you give me your honest and knowledgeable opinion on the subject. I just don't want to end up with a great looking tortoise of a smartphone, that crashes with every newly opened app.

Can you go to Application manager and see if most applications are installed to Phone/RAM memory (128MB)? My thought is to see if it is possible to uninstall those applications that can be installed again, separately, but to Mass memory (32GB), thus freeing up the valuable RAM memory. 46MB of free memory simply won't cut it for me...

Will it work on the Nokia N97? Can someone try using it on n97 and then let me know?

Is the wi-fi radious better than that of the N95 (i.e has a better distance) as the n95 has a rubish wi-fi radious

Q: Does the d-pad function in the same way as on say N95, that is can you navigate menu screen, highlight text for copying and pasting etc?

When installing new firmware do you (as with N95) have to reinstall everything that you use that is not included with the firmware. eg such as y browser etc. What about settings do you have to spend hours re inputting your prefered settings (with N95 the settings wizard caused more probs than it solved)

Thanks

Newer S60 phones from Nokia have the, so called, User Data Preservation (UDP) support, where a firmware upgrade will no longer wipe out user data.

how do i transfer my contacts from the memory card to the phone?

Hi. I would like to ask you something about the N97. It was like this. I was using Handy Task and I noticed that there was this app running behind called APIbridge. It raised suspicion as I do not know what that running behind.

Therefore, without much research, I quickly uninstalled that programme, only to find out not long, that it was used to run the Facebook widget. And since, I have been unable to log in through the Facebook widget.

Can you advise me on what I should do next?

Should I hard reset the phone (will the application go back to the same)?

Or do you know where I can rectify the problem?

Thanks a lot for your help. I really appreciate it.

Best regards,
Jon

Hi,

Forgive me if this has been asked already, but i can't find it...

For me this is important, this handset is big on internet connection but can you output it's connection (via bluetooth i guess) to a nearby laptop? (either the connection of the web page viewed)

Thus access of any online video (sky account in my case) can be viewed via the phones connection on the lap top, so thus the screen is bigger for viewing.

I was gonna get a new phone and a dongle, but could this handset work as both?

Many Thanks.

IINM, you're talking about 'tethering' and all Nokia S60 phones can do this. IINM, Maemo devices also work. I don't know about S40 though.

I think it works via bluetooth (not 100% on that), but certainly using USB.

On a Microsoft OS, you probably need to install the PC or OVI Suite.

On Ubuntu Linux (Jaunty), it just works...just plug it in and select 'PC Suite' on your phone, then a 'wizard' will open on your desktop to allow you to select your Service Provider (so that it sets the correct TCP/IP settings).

I've not tried the N97, but I would be amazed if it didn't do this? I mean, what modern phone can't do tethering?

After owning the N95-3, I was extremely excited to get the N97. This phone exceeds some of my expectation and there are only few flaws that I 've discovered so far and I will mention here.

Dual Speaker quality is extremely poor as comapred to my N95. Speaker sounds muffled and no matter how I setup the sound in the Eq setting, I'm unable to get the sound that is as crisp and clear as my N95 speakers. However when hooked up to an external speaker, sound quality is about the same as N95.

Camera extended digital zoom is misssing on N97, as compared to N95. Camera lens is a bit different on N97 (2.8/5.4), N95 (2.8/5.6). I think nokia missed on this function. on N95, Extended zoom is achieved using the circuitry and I hope that this function can be added to N97 through a update. So for time being I need to physically move closer to the subject to achieve the extended zoom. Photo quality is still great with N97. One improvement is the correct zooming button orientation on the N97. To "zoom in" on N95 you push down. To zoom in on N97 you push up( similar to the sound volume , up for increase, down for decrease.

I ve had hands on experience with the iphone, Samsung and Sony touch screen models. N97 screen speed so far is the fastest. N97 Web limitattions still needs to be worked out. I used the Skyfire on my N95 and was able to get web pages playing the flash videos. No video flashs on N97, yet. and Web zooming requires few touchs on the screen. I wished that they could use the iphone zooming function which is done with 1 touch on the screen.

If you are seeking a touch screen smart phone and you need a phone that is extremely easy to function (as oppose to iphone), N97 will be excellent choice.

hi. The internet radio is not available in n97 touch scrn phone. Is there any solution?
