Hi all.
New poster here and hopefully I wont be covering too much old ground but I do need help if you're willing to provide advice?
I have a Nokia N95 8Gb, which was on Vodafone on contract. Once the contract expired I requested the PAC code and unlocked it putting in my new Orange sim.
The calls and texts work fine however I am unable to use the internet currently and I do not know whether its because of crappy Voda software or internet settings. If people have any idea's how to install Orange mobile-internet setting's again or to check if its a software issue then please do feel free to post and save my sanity!
Regards
Jase
Try here for settings sent automatically:-

or here, to enter them manually:-

You could of course debrand your phone and update it with generic (non operator) firmware. See the "stickies" at the top of this forum for information on that.

you need to chage the PacketData connection settings. (Settings->.....->Packet-Data). I think you need to enter 'OrangeInternet'
You also need the Orange WAP connection settings, which someone else has already suggested. 😉
Cheers guys. The Orange link seemed to work and I have emailed home all the debranding stuff and got a download for NSS.
My phone still has a lot of Vodafone software such as Messenger, Vodafone Live and Vodafone Music. I am struggling to get Vodafone Messenger to work now (probably for obvious reasons) and wondered what Messenger software or links people would reccommend to replace it.
I'm assuming people have done a similar thing to me before and also wondered what issues they found when they unlocked & re-branded or debranded completely. Is it possible to strip out the entire operating system and replace it with a less Vodafone or Orange orientated version?

You can download Windows Live Messenger via Download! in Applications after debranding and upgrading or a version from here:-

See the stickies above for details of debranding and upgrading. Basically, if you change to a generic Nokia code, there is no operator stuff at all on your phone and it comes to you as Nokia intended. You will also get firmware upgrades a lot sooner. Be warned that debranding your handset can void the warranty.
I was aware that debranding voided the warranty but as I've re-branded already surely its already void?
I'm fairly sure my warranty is either finished or not got much running time left as I've had my N95 8Gb for about 20 months now.
I just checked my details using *#0000# (which I found in another thread) and got the following:-
v10.0.021
29-09-07
RM-320
Nokia N95 (60.01)
I was previously with Vodafone on my N95 8gb (and still have some Vodafone app's I'm desperate to get rid of like Vodafone Live & Vodafone Messenger) but have re-branded to Orange. I'm really not that technically minded so any advice on firmware and debranding or what I can do to improve is welcomed. I know there are "stickies" but like I said I'm not technical at all!
So what can I do?
I'm based in UK and would like to make better use of the full functionality of my phone including sat navigation, movies, email and chat/messenger.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Change to the Euro-1 N95-8GB product code via NSS, then upgrade with NSU.
There IS a sticky thread in the N95 forum that describes the process in detail and lists codes - just make sure you get an N95-8GB code, not an N95-1 code.
I've downloaded and unzipped NSS and have tried to scan for my Nokia N95 8Gb but nothing comes up when I click on the magnifying glass icon. My Nokia is connected in PC Suite mode.......I dont know why I can't locate it. Any idea's?
