All,

As I was waiting anxiously for the arrival of the N97, I have it now also on pre-order.

What I only recently realized is that it is running a newer version of Symbian S60 and then started to worry about backward compatibility. Did a quick check on Google but did not find any documents telling me that I can run my current Symbian S60 v3 software on it (Sygic McDrive, Roadsync, Resco Photo viewer and more).

I did find some articles about running Sygic on the 5800, so as this phone is also running v5, I assume it should be possible.

Anyone comments or helpful links on this?

hi, i had tried it, and some apps may work, not everyone. I also treid with a theme I had in my previous N85 micro sd card. It was Iphone by pizero and it worked perfectly on the N97, even when I originally downloaded it for the N95.

Other one that worked was the Totall recall, with some resoliution issues but it worked fine. The live messenger for 5800 did not work.

The apps at the ovi store for the 5800 may work, but you dont get the mini view in the homescreen (widget)
