Is your wireless router set to hidden? If not, then no, what you are experiencing is not common.

i dont think so..my pc at home detects alot of wifi spots since im in apartment complex..is there a setting for this, thought it detects automatically?

You have to log into your router settings and enable the wireless radio. You also have to enable your "ssid" to broadcast.

just go walk around and find an unsecured wifi spot and test your 5800 and see if it connects. my 5800 connects to my wifi out of the box, just one click and it was connected. couldnt have been easier. are you new to wireless routers and such? i would imagine your router has wireless turned ON by default, cant imagine otherwise.

What brand is the wireless router that you have?. All the things you need to know about setting up the router for wireless connectivity should be in the documentation that came with the router.

If not, I can most likely help you if you state the brand of the router. You would use your computer's internet browser to log onto your router, and change settings.
