I am trying to use the Bluetake BT009V USB dongle with winXP to connect to my p800. The drivers on the website version:1.3.2.7 dont appear to work. I got this device from Novatech. I got it working a bit, but not consistently using the drivers on the supplied CD, but these are out of date. Anyone else got any problems with this?
Am I just a victim of buying a cheap and nasty USB bluetooth device?
I bought what was the cheapest in my store (the D-link BT 120) and also had a lot of problems.
I reckon there's in fact copmpatibility issues between the Widcomm drivers (I think most Bluetooth devices out there uses the Widcomm drivers) and the P800.
I managed to get my BT 120 to connect to my P800 after a lot of hassle and an error. That is, the Widcomm has to generate an error in order to connect to the P800 at all.
Anyway make sure you configure the P800 and the dongle to both recognize each other without using password after having paired the first time, after this it should work.
Have you got it working to the point that you can switch on bluetooth on your p800 and it will automatically connect to the computer? I thought that was the point. When i did get it working I could only connect to my computer by clicking on the serial port icon in My Bluetooth places. This surely undermines the fact you should be able to connect without being sat next to the computer????
On a more general note, can anyone else do that with other bluetooth USB things?

Correctamundo, that's what I can't get to work either.
Besides if I could get it to work the battery would be drained after half a day having the BT set to auto-detect in the phone...
You are right, but I just want to turn on auto-detect on the phone when I want to connect to my computer, not have it on all the time. Anyway, it looks like its not possible anyway. There must be a boffin with some answers here somewhere..???

It is not possible to initiate a Bluetooth serial port connection from the P800 unfortunately. You can however beam over files from the P800 to your computer without having to start a BT connection from your PC first.
also got the dbt-120 which is a great device, but again I can't use it with the p800 properly... the serial port connection is so damn unreliable..
9/10 times now it won't work, whilst it worked originally.
Might format as apparently the t68 software causes problems if its been on the same system, even after an uninstall.
