hi - new here.

Recently had my iphone stolen and couldnt afford to replace so bought a n95 8g. Great as a phone and I like using it, but is it just me or are all the apps rubbish! As for the Widsets...quicker to go to an internet cafe!
I want to love this phone!! help!
Geoff

Welcome aboard,

Sorry to hear about the theft...didn't you have phone insurance (most banks give it away free now on premium/extra accounts)? Was it covered by your House and Contents insurance policy?

Also sorry to hear you're not feeling the "n95 8Gb" love! Hopefully it'll grow on you. I wouldn't be without mine now and it never leaves my side.

Thanks guys - I tried Ovi - and had a good scout around and downloaded a few apps, thats how I ended up trying the Widsets - they are sooo slow!!!.

I just expected more, better (and free) apps. The iphone made easy work of getting and using great apps, thought the n95 would be similar.

As I said great phone but yet to find an application that makes me think WOW!

There are 100s of great Nokia S60 apps, but sadly most will not be listed in Download! or OVI. (and the best ain't free).
Try scanning the N95 forums in more detail or Google for 'S60 3rd' to locate some high class apps!

There's a sticky at the top of the forum that has some good apps. The problem with the N95 and Nokia in general is not the lack of good apps, but the lack of a central place to find them. Ovi Store is in its infancy, but this might resolve the problem.

Part of the reason so many iPhone apps are available from the one central place is that apple is very proprietary and will not approve anything to be installed on an iPhone unless they have first tested it (for a fee?) then made it available for download from their own store app. S60 is far more open, and not tied to one handset manufacturer. I also agree that OVI could bridge the gap if it takes off in the way Nokia hope it will.

I certainly think you could have done a lot more more research in AAS and other forums before declaring all S60 apps are rubbish.

thanks all

Dez - tried the search "s60 3rd" . this gave me a great site freesymbiansoft, this is the best site I have tried so far for browsing apps. Downloaded the Yell.com app - this is great, it just works! Also good a good weather app. will keep trying. I am starting to feel the n95 love.

I did a lot of looking and did check out the sticky you mention. Point taken tho' there does seem to be good apps - if you can find them, lets hope OVI delivers!

I am feeling the n95 love with

Mail for exchange
Yell.com app
Weather v1.01.07
Sky mobile
