Following on from the news that the BBC iPlayer is available for older Nokia S60 devices we can now also report that the BBC iPlayer is also now available for the Nokia N97. It uses the same widget as the Nokia 5800 and can also be downloaded from www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer. The N97 version includes full download capabilities.

All we need now is an N97!!!
Still no Beeb love for my 6220c *sigh*
Oh, well good to see this on high-profile devices like the N97 though.
i've been trying to get this iplayer to work outside the uk (seems like a useful and fun app) but i cant get it to work, maybe someone here has an idea?
what i did was create another access point in my phone with the same settings as usual (t-mobile internet) except for the "advanced options" normally this connections doesnt use a proxy but i figured if I try adding a UK proxy i might be able to use the bbc iplayer here in the netherlands. so under this advanced settings option in my "t-mobile connection" i tried some different proxy's found here: http://www.xroxy.com/proxy-country-GB.htm
but with all of these proxy's as soon as i try surfing the web it asks me for a password.
Do any of you guys have an idea?
i think either:
- i'm just trying something that isn't supported and thus will never work
- The proxy's i use are faulty of somehow (while not stated on the site) password protected
- i'm just doing something wrong and you guys can help me out!
(preferably the last option)
Thanks!
If you download SkyFire in the UK it has what is required for BBC iPlayer use outside the UK.
I used an N82 in Canada last year and work anywhere with wifi connection.
No issues at all and no need for proxy settings...
I would expect the same with the N97. Though you can 'download' the programmes on the N97 and with the licence take it outside the UK. This will be restricted by date (7 days) licence

I agree with above poster, would love to use BBC iPlayer here in the states. any tips on how it can be done?
Send us $200 a year and we'll see what we can do 😉
In seriousness though, the BBC iPlayer in any of its formats (Web, Mobile, and, currently a work-in-progress, the Wii) will only work in the UK because we pay a TV licence.
Too bad. I'd be glad to pay a subscription fee to use this. 😊
Anyone having prolems getting the licence when trying ti play downloaded vids?
Yes, same problem. Problem getting the license. Works fine on my E71 though.
i pay for a tv license here in the netherlands too, i receive both bbc 1 and 2.
but still no iplayer for me 😞.
(i get to wacht "uitzendinggemist" but they dont have a sleek client like that yet. (and also no s60v5 support for their current client)
It's not that tricky non-UK guys. I use HotSpot Shield & watch Hulu from here in the UK. Sort that out or a decent proxy & you're fine. Google is your friend, many people watch iPlayer round the world using proxies.
I have an N97 in the UK connected to wireless internet and iPlayer will not work, having emailed Nokia the said the N97 is not compatible with iPlayer. What a load of crap!
i don't have a download option in the Iplayer on my N97.
how do i get this version.
Iplayer says i have the latest version!
