There's no (free) unlock-by-imei apps so you will either have to contact Orange or else take your handset to a back-street mobile shop who unlock with JAF boxes etc.

P.S. I wouldn't post your IMEI number publicly if I were you! 😉

Call me naive but I genuinely don't know what damage could be caused by giving away your IMEI number...can anyone humour me and explain?

Well, for one, someone could report that IMEI number as their phone that's been stolen and have it cut off.

I'm not sure if your IMEI number could be cloned to another phone.

The IMEI number is a unique, worldwide, identification code for your phone. See here:-

1. I think the police would ask for proof of ownership to report as lost/stolen.
2. Yes, although highly illegal, IMEI number can be cloned, which is a very good reason never to post yours in a forum.
