ZOMGitsCJ.com is reporting that the Nokia N79 has received a firmware update to v30.011 which apparently includes improved stability and tighter Ovi integration. The update should be available OTA (type *#0000# on the standby screen) or through the Nokia Software Updater application.

I know that the NAM versions of the phones are behind- I get that. We still haven't gotten the v20.175 update, so now we're two versions behind! That is ridiculous!

Isn't there a way to just download the update files from the internet and just run them on the phone?

Haven't seen a screenshot of this yet! Anyone know what all has been changed. From the description, sounds like Ovi Contacts has been added to the FW.

I guess Nokia is really working hard these past few days on integrating all the features of their Ovi service to their products especially to their Nseries devices. That is really good! Anyway, do you know if the Nokia N85 is also going to receive this update? It's because I have an N85, and I have observed that whenever Nokia releases a firmware update for the N79, the N85 also has it automatically, but this time it seems that it is only the N79 which is eligible for this update and no word on the N85. I've been searching all over the web about this, but I haven't seen even a single screenshot showing the changes that this update brings, unlike in the previous firmware (version 20.175). I just want to ask if this update changes the current icon pack of the N79 to Ovi icons? It's the trend among the latest Nokia devices right now, and it would be great if they implement that in this latest firmware. Thanks!

My N85, bought sim-free direct from Nokia UK shop (internet) is still not getting the v20.175 update. This is ridiculous, since that FW update was over 3 weeks ago! My N85 product code is 0572869, but still it is not receiving update. Come on, this is a sim-free phone Nokia... why not update?

Likewise, my sim-free N79 bought direct from Nokia UK online is still on 11.049...

my uk sim free n85 pc 0572869 still stuk on v11 this is a discuting nokia why leave out english people

My white N79 (Product code 0568302) bought from the Nokia store on Regent Street, won't update from 20.175 O.T.A. or via N.S.U. Has anyone managed to update a UK phone yet?

why cant our uk phones be updated nokia u suck why leave us out.my n85 is still on v11

ver 11 to ver 20 has big difference. but 20 to 30 not much i guess. just got the latest and didnt find any difference yet

At long last V30 is now available in the Uk as of yesterday, I've just updated but where's Ovi contacts? I though it was to be built into the existing contacts app. I see Nokia still haven't fixed the powersaver bug. 😡😡😡

still no update for uk handsets this is really sad nokia .we are still on v11 with our generic n85s ,nokia why do u hate us english so much

Well I have managed to update mine via NSS. FOTA said there was an update but failed 4-5 times to install it. I've noticed a few problems since updating though. I cannot change the security code (I have the correct 12345 security code as this works when you choose factory reset from the menu) It says "Wrong Code" but this obviously can't be true. I've also noticed that it doesn't automatically set up the GPRS & MMS settings as S60 phones have done for the last few years. Also the *#7370# and green/*/3 power on reset doesn't work.

Versions 20.x and 30. introduce new bugs and are generally slower. Be happy with 11.049!
(At least you need the Ovi-integration and other features added in the two recent versions.)

v.30 is still not available in India.. I tried updating using both NSU and FOTA... It is not available in India yet 😞

Hi there, today I updated my N79 to version 32.001.
I dont have the changelog at the moment.

The update is all about performance and speed.
