Translated it says:
Soon there will be better software for P800
In the beginning of April there will be an option to upgrade the software for the P800. The upgrade will also increase the quality of pictures taken with the built in camera.
Another thing that will be improved in the new software is Bluetooth. Earlier there were problems connecting Bluetooth accessories.
UIQ is the name of the software that works together with SymbianOS. Recently there was a new version of UIQ released, and P800 users will be able to get this version in their phones. Sony Ericsson has started tests with the new UIQ. Our sources say the software will be released to the users in the beginning of April.
It has also been mentioned that the users might be able to upgrade the phones themselves by downloading a software upgrade from internet.

This is very good news..!! 😉 😉

P.S. English isn't my native language
That's a VERY GOOD news 😊 Especially the fact that users will be able to upgrade themselves: I don't want to loose time everytime there is a new firmware available.
😃 😃 😃 😃 , i'm so happy, i was begining to lose faith in se
I am soooo glad I bought a phone in Jan and didn't wait for the UK release! Upgrade over the internet - cool!
Well, lets just cool down and hope this isn't just rumours. I wouldn't take these "news" too serious until SE confirms it.
Well, this website (mobile.se) does tend to be reasonably reliable, but I take your point, until I'm downloading my first firmware upgrade, I'll take it with a pinch of salt. Would be good if was true though... 😃
Yeah, really hope this turns out to be for real! :bday:
This magazine has been wrong on several occasions in the past though...
There is no doubt in my mind that we cant uppgrade to UIQ 2.1 this WILL happen 😊
its all the good stuff like better pictures etc that im not entirely sure of.
There should be numerous improvemnts though.
cant w8 :bday:
yeah, if i can do it myself, i wouldn't have taken half a day off from work to go to the service center and wait another 4 hours for them to upgrade my phone to ver CXC162001 R1G05

Notably they're a magazine.
I find most "rumours" in this forum to come from "a friend of a friend" and if I must choose whom to trust I definitely will rather trust the magazine then the "friend of a friend".
I can tell u that the upgrade talk is NOT a rumour 😊
I know because I am in a working-position, lets say, close to were the stuff happens 8)
...so just hold on and the descstand will be out!
Though nice to hear, i really wouldnt look forward to it till SE announces it. Maybe a link from a reliable site as solid evidence is in store 😊
If you could flash any other phone like the I300 from sprint and numerous others i am sure our litlle wizard of a p800 can do it all by himself. Probably like the auto gprs sms that sets the phone to the appropriate network by carrier. I think!
Far more likely to be along the lines of the backup software (when attached to the Sync Station) in the same way that it says "Turn off now", "turn on now" etc etc.
Fingers crossed...
If they dont include T9 in the next couple of updates I wont be impressed.
I think T9 is not in program..in fact, with handwriting recognition, I don't see it as a necessary thing. An important think (for me) that will be added will be SMS delivery report...strange that such a feature would not be included from the beginning.

Can you confirm that the upgrade will be available and that users will be able to upgrade themselves? I think this is a basilar thing...
20 minutes ago I personally talked with the product manager from SE in Austria.
I meet him sometimes in our company. He told me that a new firmware will come at April.
But, bad news, it is not possible to download this and doing the upgrade yourself. The phone must given to a service center and it takes one hour before getting it back. The upgrade needs 30 minutes to finish and it is too much risk for SE because when something crashes in this time the became problems to repair all those crashed ones in warranty.
At SE was and is a discussion to make the upgrade possible for the owner, but not the next year.
With this bad news. Chris. Have a nice day.
PS Very important tip from the guy Disable at WAP Settings "WAP Push", it can crash the phone by incoming wap news (if this is available in your country or provider). When it is too late, you have to delete all files at folder wap push with the not installed file manager (download it at allaboutsymbian or other sites).
