Multimedia key not working on N82

I upgraded the firmware of my N82 to 31.0.016 about a week or so ago. Everything was working perfectly until yesterday.

Now whenever I hit the multimedia key, the screen will flicker momentarily, but the multimedia app is never started. I have tried the following with no success:

- Restart the phone
- Removed battery and restarted phone
- Removed SD and SIM cards and restarted phone

I thought perhaps that there may not be enough phone memory available, but the File Manager app informs me that there is 109 MB free.

Other than the firmware update, nothing else has been installed.

Can anyone help?

I don't think it is a cleaning problem, since the phone reacts to the multimedia key press. For example, if I am currently on the standby screen and press the button, the screen changes for a fraction of a second (as if it is about the launch the multimedia app) and then dump me back at standby screen.

My guess is that the application is actually crashing, but I have no idea how to confirm or fix the problem.

I suspect the only way you can be sure to fix this is a firmware reflash (a bit of a pain I know). Not sure why these things happen, but the ultimate reset often fixes things.
