Unlimited GPRS?

Hi,

I have seen the words "Unlimited GPRS" mentioned in one or two threads, but I don't think I've seen anyone be specific about what contract this is on (I am presuming Vodafone).

I am one step away from paying 300 for an upgrade to my work phone (I'll get to keep the handset) but this will come without GPRS. I don't mind paying a monthly fee for an unlimited GPRS service, so long as the phone + rental isn't prohibitively expensive.

Can anyone give me any pointers as to which contract offers "unlimited GPRS" ?

Thanks.

Durz!

I'm pretty sure on orange you can convince them you've gotten the SPV which means 6 a month for unmetered GPRS... not sure about Voda...

Hi 😊

How would I go about "convincing" Orange that I've got an SPV, when I will be upgrading through them to a P800? 😊

I'd love to know, because 6 a month pseudo-unlimited GPRS would rock.

😃

Sorry to break the news to you, but...

Orange won't let you use the SPV thing on the P800, as they know you are calling using a P800.

Secondly, with respect to the unlimited GPRS, I think you may have seen the words on here as I have it!!!! 😃 😃 😃

I got hold of it on vodaphone, not going to say the provider in case they start getting nasty calls and they cut mine off... Basically the provider promised that they were going to bring in GPRS, then they rang me up to say that only 6 people in the country had even asked about it. So as they weren't going to spend the money in putting the measuring systems in place, they simply moved me to a special business tariff, where I pay 30 a month (+vat i think) for unlimited gprs.

I haven't really raped it properly (apart from a couple of occasions, but I don't really get enough signal to be able to rape it 24/7) but I intend to now with the p800.

sw33t... 😊

Good luck to you mate, but if I was you I would keep things like that to myself.

Some jealous person will only mess it up for you

Live and learn :fadein:

thats why I didn't mention a SP.

But.. the nice thing about mobile phones is "contracts" 😃 Meaning that the SP can't go back on it either.

yes but you have mentioned the service provider before and that company have a poor reputation (ruthless owner) etc etc etc

(I used them for 3 years and found them to be OK)

Contracts havn't stopped them before!

Good for you Andy, but remember not to get too complacent with them. Record all conversations with C/S staff, take down their full names, addresses and places of birth, and send everything to them by registered post so you can prove they've received it! Else one day, you'll end up with a bill for 1000 for GPRS usage on your doormat, and if this 'contract' is just verbal (i.e. that C/S rep telling you they'll let you have this unlimited tariff) then it'll be nigh on impossible to sort out, unless you've got all of the above! 😉

Anyone who lives in sweden can have unlimited gprs.

Comviq here in sweden have decided to keep it free for the time beeing.
I dont know if this is for subscribers only or if it works with there cash cards, any one ?

I would defently buy a start packet for under 50$ and get unlimited gprs. Can store the extra simcard under the battery 8)

Hi,

I got my p800 through orange retail and they put me onto the SPV package, apparently they are meant to tell everyone that this is available for the p800 as well...

I've called numerous times to confirm and yes im on the SPV plan and its unlimited access for 6 pounds a month

Hey Thu Mar 06, 2003 8:06 pm Guest,

Great, though before i get that happy, do you have
any names of people at orange i can phone and ask about this?
Also, is it only the retail shops that do this, or EG, can i buy my phone
from onestopmoble, and then phone orange and get this?

fanks 😊

L.

well, when i signed up (Orange retail, Glasgow) i dealt with a guy called Andrew (i Believe) and he was very helpful - i was all set to go for the 4 meg package when this nice guy offered me the spv option.

As for can you get this deal anywhere else - i couldn't tell you, but i doubt it, from what i was told Orange are subsedising it so people will try it and get hooked - its working!

What exactly is the SPV option?

I am getting more and more confused about the tariffs and initial costs of this phone... ! :-?

Phoned orange, and you CANNOT get the SVP unlimited gprs on the p800..that offer is only for the p800 😞 ..... said they cannot do it!
