Backup freezes halfway through on XP?

Has anyone had any issues doing backups on Windows XP using the USB cradle? When I try to do one, either the Backup and Restore application continuously flashes up the "Connecting to phone" dialog, or if it does manage to get past that and restart the phone, it freezes a couple of files into the backup, and I have to terminate the app. Has anyone else had anything like this?

I too have had the exact same problem with my desktop right down to the flashing dialogue box. Tried everything I know inclusive of reinstalling everything - WINXP Pro, all softwares etc. No success. Strangely enough I have a Dell Latitude Laptop with the same setup with WinXP Pro and it works perfectly! I kinda gave up on the desktop. [/quote]

yes, i have the same problem with my new P800 R1D and Windows XP

synching and backing up will hag and i have to reboot the phone afterwards 😞

I PC has also problems seeing the p800. sometimes it works (then i can copy 1 or 2 files over "mein p800" (Explorer)). But the pc loose the connection very fast.

at least i can install soft over my sony digicam and the memstick.

is it normal that when you sync or backup you p800 with the cradle the p800 does a restart ?

hope i get my bluetooth soon, and it works then

The restart of the phone when doing a backup is ok, because the software cannot backup it when files are open.
I never heard about the problem with loosing the connection on usb cradle. I also use XP Pro.

I had the same problem of freezing during the backup. Thanks to a tip I got, I cured it by downloading the latest P800 suite from the SE site. The version on the CD that came with the phone obviously was older and had a bug in it. Try installing 1.1.1. Its in the Global Support area of their WEB site under scripts, downloads & patches.

I am having this exact problem. When I do fresh installs of software (1.1.0 off CD, upgraded to DLed 1.3.1) I get the forever flashing "connecting to phone" dialog box. It never connects. After restarting and messing with it eventually I get it to try and backup. When I get that to start it consistently puts the phone into backup mode, the progress bar gets to half way across (same point each time) then it hangs everything. I need to hard reset the phone.

This set of software is the single worst crap I've seen in my life -- and I've seen some bad software.
