Hello good fellas! i bought a nokia 5800 that was delivered just this Monday.
I'm still knowing my phone by customizing it.However after successfully setting 3 of the shortcuts i want for the homescreen (using the home screen theme shortcuts bar) i wanted the last one to be shortcuts to applications. It's taking me long time to get to application like go to menu and press applications.I can't find applications in the list of shorcuts. Is that a fault or i can't simply just do that?
if it's possible please let me know how to do it.
another question i'm using the current firmware v2.1 does nokia plan to fixed the battery consumption with a new update?I've read a lot about that problem and i was kinda discouraged if i have to charge my phone everyday if i want to use it like the way it's supposed to be used (browsing ,listen to music etc)
thanks for reading

I don't see peoples problem when they say they have to charge it everyday after heavy use.
I don't see how charging it everytime i sleep is a hard thing to do?
Or even, keep a charger at work or in your car aswel?
During normal use, which i'd say is abit of internet, a few messages and a few phone calls, it will easily last 2 days, sometimes even 3.

I am getting up to 3 days between battery charges - if I forget to charge overnight. This is significantly better than N95-1 or N96 handsets.
(My 5800XM checks for email every hour and I have a fair amount of SMS and Voice calls during the working day).
However, best practice is to charge your smartphone (any brand or model) EVERY NIGHT.
Li -ion batteries do not suffer the 'memory effect' issues old Ni Cad batteries had, so there's no benefit in letting them drain to empty.
In fact, totally draining an Li-ion battery between charges may reduce the lifespan, according to some articles I have read.
Generally speaking the only way to increase time between charges is to increase the physical size of the battery (i.e. more capacity). Do you want a larger handset in your pocket?
Finally, compare any PC laptop battery (2-3 hours use between charges) with any mobile handset and you should be impressed with mobile battery performance of 1-3 days.
"Applications" is neither an application nor a link - and only these two types can be added to this bar.
I need to charge it everyday if heavily used or every 2 days if 'normally' used.
alright alright!so basically there is nothing wrong with charging it everyday.i got it.there no way to had applications shortcuts too. Thanks!we need people like you to have better understanding of our handsets.By the way any of you has heard reactions from nokia after the release of the iphone 3g s?
