N97 Contacts problems

Okay, here's a thread regarding problems I've been having with the Contacts on my NAM version:

1. Nokia PC Suite did a lousy job of porting data from my Nokia 9300 to my N97. It appears about 60% of the data came over. None of the thumbnails did.

2. When I try to make calls using my Contacts list, it will sometimes dial only 5 digits, and those five digits cannot be found in the Contact entry for that person!

I suspect that the "porting" cause some type of corruption as things did not come across in the same fields as you would have expected.

It looks like I'll have to enter the data ALL OVER AGAIN!! 😡

Anyone else with these issues?

It's times like this that make me sorry that I have 128 contact names, many of which have up to 5 phone numbers and two email addresses, besides home addresses, work addresses and birthdays, notes, etc.

Did you use PC Suite backup/restore, or synchronize with Outlook?

You can also export/save the contacts as .vcf files, and then import those.

No, I do not use Outlook outside of work.

My personal contacts reside on my phone.

Editing things using Nokia PC Suite on my PC with the phone attached, everything looks fine.

When I disconnect the N97 NAM from the computer, I find that everyone's first name is added to the beginning of their last name:

Example: JOHN JOHN DOE

Even though it shows as JOHN and DOE in the FIRST & LAST NAME fields in PC SUITE.

When I try to phone either of my #6 brother's phone numbers from the contact list, it uses his HOUSE number to try and dial.

CONTACTS and PC SUITE are knackered!!

I will have to enter all the information in all over again by hand in situ on the N97.

Gee whiz, Nokia! :con?

Gday guys,

I am looking at getting the N97 when it is released here in Australia and have a couple of questions.

How well does the S60 OS sync with Outlook '07?

Is the sync process pretty flawless and all fields move across to the phone? Contacts and Calendar entries etc.

Do any of you use this feature often?

Any response/advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Nav.
