hello to all, just got the 5800 and am in process of setting up my bluetooth headset. my question is : is there a way to get the phone to auto switch to silent mode when the bluetooth headset is turned on

also is it possible to add a picture to a contact like you can on the iphone

Have you considered reading the manual? (The answer is YES to both of your questions).

This makes me laugh (through gritted teeth). Nokia handsets have done both for many years - a very long time before the iPhone was invented. Sic.

first off thanks for a reply.

i dont beleive there is any need for the sarcasm your putting across in your post. the manual does not say anything about automatic profile swithching, it shows you how to manually change the profile that is all.

and for the second question i simply used the iphone as an example, i havent owned a nokia for many years(probably about 9 years).

if youve got nothing constructive to offer dont post in the thread, it was a simple question that i couldnt find an answer to in the manual so i thought id ask here

I have an N97 instead of a 5800 but since the OS is the same, I can only assume my directions will be accurate... if not, at least they should point you in the right direction.

If you pop into Settings -> Phone -> Accessories -> Headset, you can set the default profile for your headset here (e.g. Silent).

There are a few ways to assign a photo to a contact:

  • Take the photo, then goto Options -> Use image -> Assign to contact
  • Open a previously taken photo and follow the menu the same as above
  • Start editing a contact, and tap "Image name" to select a picture

Hope this helps.

There's an extended manual available online, if you can be bothered to look.
You could also have found the answers you wanted by using the forum Search function... if you had bothered to try.
I make loads of helpful posts on these forums on a daily basis, but found your post particularly lazy and crass.
