NEED HELP - cant install .sis files on N79

5 replies · 8,036 views · Started 25 June 2009

I was installing .sis applications on my N79 just fine but then suddenly it just refuse to installing any sort of .sis files - what happens is that i will choose to install a .sis file, it will start and continue into the disclaimer n etc, but when it actually get to the installation part, it will just exit itself and disappear without any error msgs.

Please Help, THX in advance

P.S. the application I installed last before this problem was Sensible Sudoku Cracked, where I had to alter my date and time in order to install. I don't know if this helps in finding the solution.

Did you check : Menu > Installations > App. Manager > Options > Settings > 1. All 2. Off . And of course : Set Clock back to the right Time ? Maybe the hacked app. is corrupted . In such case : de-install the App and give it a new try !
Otherwise you have to go through the Reset workaround , which can take about one hour . See this thread : http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/81021/

Wow thx for the fast reply, yea I've tried all your suggestions already expect of course the format.

Im wondering if there is some kind of error log file, lol I really do not want to format - will be the last thing done.

I don't know the answer to your question , but I think he uses the PC for this (I don't have one) . But with decent software used , I think this problem occurs also when the Phone runs out of memory : C: and RAM . Here is a thread how to clean and manage memory on your phone - it's about 5800XM , but works also for S60 v 3 : http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/84082/&highlight=Save+memory
BTW : JbakTaskman is a nice application manager that also monitors Memory : C: , RAM and E:

SOLVED - yup thx 4 ur help

just set ur phone to mass storage (not pc suite) when plugged into your pc, and u can view all the files in /sys/bin via pc

once you made a back up of all files inside /sys/bin, then organize by date modified, and start deleting .exe files from newest to oldest

for me, after deleting sudoku (most recent installed app), the phone worked perfectly fine
