The GPS.

Hi guys.

I'm currently biding my time and waiting for the e72 to come out, to see if it will be worth purchasing that one instead of the e71. Meanwhile I was wondering a bit about the gps...

I have understood that if I am not subscribing to any type of voice-gps-guidance, I can use the GPS virtually without any charge, except for the data traffic involved with having assisted GPS activated. However, if I use the GPS like this, will I be able to get visual directions on the screen, from my current position to a specified destination?

I am also wondering about google maps.... Is this something you gotta pay for to use with the phone, or is there a freeware program, and maps, that u can get? Not really sure I would prefer google over nokia maps, nokia maps look good to me but as I am not a heavy gps user, I am looking for something practical and free of charge. And ofcourse, with predownloadable maps over the internet.

Thanks in advance.

I own a E71 and i have installed Garmin Mobile xt. if you want turn by turn navigation this program is free to download but it would charge you for the maps, but use your imagination on how to get the maps.

OVI Maps (Nokia maps) is free to use on the E72 now. The maps can also be pre installed to the memory card. Look for the relevant story here on AAS.
