Is there a way to download Windows Live Messenger and Skype onto my N97?

I am looking for official releases.

Thanks

As far as I know Skype will be released Q3 2009 for the N97 so not long to wait for that.

As for Messenger, the offical msn messenger release comes with a nice error that will not permit connection to the network. There are a few others out there that work(ish) but not offical. I think i have a copy of msn messenger that works, but only in landscape if yer desperate.

Nimbuzz or Fring , both support MSN , Skype , Google Talk and many more IM/VOIP systems .

I use Fring too. Combines all the clients I need (msn, skype, sip) in a nice single tool.

Are this messenger clients battery eaters? (if not in use, but connected and on, without TOO many people online)

Thanks 😃 I'm looking for a good one that won't eat up my battery and leaving it on constantly.

Is that also only available in the UK? They only send you the link via SMS to a +44 country code.

I did a Google search for Live Messenger Mobile and found a Microsoft site (US) and went through some displays that said to leave your cell number and that a link would be SMS'ed to you.

Did that, got the message, clicked on the link and found myself in the mobile web version of Windows Live. Was able to access my Hotmail but really disappointed in the rinky-dink mobile display. Hyperlink touch zones were just way too tiny (no I didn't try zooming).

Since it did not detect a downloadable client for the N97, there probably isn't one (yet).

Back to using Fring for IM.
