How does MAPS work in N97?

I don't know why it wouldn't be connecting to any satellites, as there could be many different reasons, but yes it does include a free 90 days trial for turn-by-turn navigation. After that, you have to pay for it, but you can continue to download maps for free and use the application for anything else for free.

If you are indoors you won't really stand a chance of getting a satellite fix. You need to be outdoors or in a car.

Also the "A" part of "A-GPS" (Assisted) uses your cellular carrier's tower information to get a rough first "fix". You need to let it use the network to get a fix quicker.

The 3 month "trial" period can give you turn-by-turn directions. I ran my N97 in a side-by-side trial with a Tom-Tom One over a 130 mile trip. Both performed within expected tolerances of each other. The N97 gave briefer instructions a little less often, but was timely and accurate with turns.

BTW...GPS with the display always-on really runs the battery down, so I'd suggest that in the car for a long trip you keep it on a charger.

with agps on i can get signal indoors in quite a quick time as well

agps will only use tiny amounts of data like a few kbs worth

if you can use it do it if not it will take a bit longer

maps , you pay for a liscence then get free map updates for most countrys

Try this :

1) Go to locations > Positionsettings > Methods
Choose Assisted GPS + Integrated GPS + Network GPS

2) In the same menu, press back, after selecting and then choose Positionserver
Set automatic + Choose an acces point (your mobile data connection (NOT WIFI)). Type in server-address = supl.nokia.com
