Like the title says quake 2 and 3 works on the HD. They both run beatifully in full 640x360 resolution. There are a few hairy buts tho. The biggest one is that you need a bluetooth keyboard. And since samsung hasnt gotten off their lazy asses and written drivers for bluetooth keyboards. So you will need to install the nokia wireless bluetooth driver. which means youll need a hacked phone. The other one is that none of the games seem to want to switch to landscape. so youre stuck to portrait. But caveats aside, especially quake 3 looks gorgeous. It easilly matches any iphone game as far as graphics goes.
Quake 2 and 3 works on the i8910! .... sort of.
Maybe a Zeemote would work! They're cheap on ebay. I was thinking of getting one for a Nintendo emulator.
Have you tried the wr virtual keyboard? It's a 3rd party app (freeware) and you can choose qwerty or directional keys only. It's semi-transparent and you can move it about the screen.
Yes, I tried it. And it does work. But it isnt transparent while playing. And since there is no multitouch it isnt exactly playable.
What pips are you using? Ive tried to install python 1.9.5 a number of times and it all seems to go well but I can't open the scriptshell and no python apps seem to work.
I didn't have to install PIPS to run Quake3.
I asked some questions on symbian-freak.com, the developer hangs around there... If that doesn't work I'll mail him, being a two-time donator I feel I can =)
It would be great if the touchscreen could be used as a mouse, just like in the game Crimson Fields! Then you'd only need a zeemote to play it.
And the screen orientation would need to be fixed.
Yeah. Me neither. I just installed it like on my n95 and it worked. Shouldn't be too much work for the dev to create touch screen support. But since not alot of people have the i8910 and even fewer have hacked ones I guess there isn't too much incentive for him to do so. It occured to me tho that the dev provides his own bluetooth keyboard/mouse driver. Perhaps they will install and work on non hacked phones.
You don't need a hacked phone, having a dev certificate suffices.
What about the Igo Stowaway keyboard driver? I have read the Stowaway keyboard does work, and maybe the driver will work with other keyboards as well.
