Moderated Posts?

Noticed something a little bit odd, maybe the mods can help out here.

The last few times Ive tried to post a reply to a thread on this forum, I get the message that my post will be moderated first , then it will appear in the thread. Now, this happens at a totally unpredictable stage, as sometimes I reply, and it gets posted straightaway. The moderated posts take a-g-e-s to appear in the thread, by which time, the reply is almost pointless as the discussion has moved on.

Ive been a member since 2004? Dont post a great deal, but I thought I would have passed my probation by now? Why the sudden moderation? Not that Im being paranoid.

Old jokeParanoid man goes to see his psychiatrist, and says everyone hates him. Psychiatrist replies Dont be absurd everyone hasnt met you yet

I don't think it is you so much as what is typed in the message.

Most forum software contains some features to try and prevent foul language.

Years ago I was typing in a technical post on a computer bulletin board via modem (before the Internet) and was all-of-a-sudden disconnected from the BBS with a nasty message on the screen saying that I had violated the language provisions of using the board.

The message that I was typing was about how I had interfaced a Mitsubishi thin-line DS/DD/DT floppy drive to my Heathkit HZ89. The board software was scanning for "smut" and put the "shi" on the end of Mitsubishi together with the "t" in thin-line and decided I was trying to get nasty and kicked me off.

I've seen this message appear on here before. It was when I tried to start an N97 Applications thread.

Certainly don't remember using ' foul and abusive' , maybe it was a typo. It just seems to be unpredictable, sometimes it gets posted straightaway, other times it gets delayed for pre-moderation.

The forum users a spam filter and either your post IP or the content or someway it was written will have triggered it to be put into a queue. The queue is regularly checked so so long as the Mod/Admin reading it reads it correctly, it should be released as a correct and acceptible post and put on to the forum. Right now there are 15 new threads and 7 posts that need moderating, but there have been over 50 new threads at times and it takes a bit of time to read thru and make sure we dont delete the decent threads users have spent time typing.

Theres loads that comes on here that users dont see thankfully... its just the way the software picks some posts up that are actually legit posts, and we have to release them...

HTH.

I've been a SYSOP before in the days of computer Bulletin Boards.

The job that the Moderator does can make or break a system.

This is why I consider AAS to be the best Symbian information content on the web. There are an awful lot of other boards out there which have been taken over by spammers and trolls and it's not a pretty sight!

Thanks to all of the AAS Moderators for the wonderful job that they do!! 😊

Dave, I dont think the filter will pick it up due to you being a decent number of posts in the forum and not having any flags against you... that post didnt flag up at all... so I guess if you want to spam the forum then just make 200 good posts and you can slip in the odd link! LOL

As it is tho... now the test is complete... stuff like this comes down to a Mod/Admin being in the right place at the right time 😉

Where shall I send your infraction to?? :P

And dave, RE your deleted post... there isnt a profanity filter ... yet 😉 I think the users here are sensible enough to flag any to the mods that comes up or find theres not much need for it. 😉

Cheers for the test tho guys!

and rdcinhou , Im sure all the Mods/Admins appreciate that. 😉
