Paint Pad. It's a great little drawing program, much better than the one that comes with the phone. It's about as advanced as Paint on Windows machines but still good fun.

Always a sucker for new and innovative apps that help me get a bit more out of a device, so looking forward to what this thread brings.

I like mobbler, works well on the N97.

Also just read that Dr Jukka has released an app so you can have a clock on the standby screen but it requires the backlight. Used to have cclock on the N95 as the tiny clock was unreadable on that in standby. Can't seem to get Dr Jukkas app working on my handset though. [late edit] I was mistaken in thinking the app would provide a contantly on clock. Instead the clock appears when a key is pressed.

If you don't pay the registration fee you get a pop-up every time you run it.

It works better on the N97 than it did on my Nokia 9300--the screen input area is wider and even is rotation-compliant.

Not a problem with the program, but a problem with the N97 is that the Prolog language uses a lot of symbols that are not easily entered on the N97 keyboard. So....I recommend developing your program on a desktop and "blipping" them via Bluetooth to your N97 where you can copy and paste into the entry dialog box. One of the instructions allows you to load content from files...either on the device or off of the web.

Seems like as good a place as any, although I liked the old N95 list that was maintained by someone with thread edit abilities (happy to volunteer 😉) - meaning we had a maintinaed list (with summary info) at the top of the thread which got added to, thus avoiding the need to scroll...

Also, where possible, if folks could post legitimate download or homepage links that'd safe hunting the googleverse...

My favourite apps so far are: -

Gravity - Twitter client which works great with the touch screen and keyboard. Also makes it very easy to upload images online. Thanks to a app installed on facebook any twitter post ending in #fb also gets posted to facebook.

Handy Taskman - Makes a good app switcher/launcher and also can close programs which get launched automatically when the phone starts, helping save some memory.

Profmail - I like the updated Nokia Messaging for my googlemail account but I don't want instant notifications on my work emails and I also find the built in messaging app unusable. Profmail works well with my work Groupwise account over imap.

Time Machine - simple count-up/down timer. Aesthetically, it looks like something you'd expect from the iphone app store's offerings than something for Symbian.

I agree that a sticky similar to the N95 one would be a great idea with a little bit about the App's and whether they are FREE or not and with hompage links rather than direct downloads.

Yeah, I maintained that N95 list... so I'll set a new one up and try it for N97. I see you have a page setup also so will cross link to that.

In the mean time, I'll unsticky this after Ive taken all the details out and put them into a tight thread.... 😎

Thanks for all the advice. It's good to see the sticky up already. It will be a good tool for people moving up to the N97.
