I haven't had any problems with the phone at all ...... until today

Switched it on this morning, only to find out that the phone memory has been completely wiped, all contacts gone, all photos taken recently gone, and the live feeds (facebook and accuweather) gone.

did the usual, switched off and on again, removed battery etc, still no contacts - and came to realise that the phone would not allow me to ADD any either.

Did a hard reset, contacts facility works fine now, so i just have to put in all my numbers again, not a problem - still live feed problem, looks like photos have gone forever.

Got accuweather to work, but not facebook - switched phone to offline and switched it back again, got facebook to work but not accuweather lololol

then phone completely crashed, at which point i started to feel faint.

took out battery and left it for a min, stated it up again and everything seems to be working fine, BOTH live feeds working.

ange xx

anyone else been through this ?

Fortunately I haven't had these problems yet. What I did to anticipate problems, is try to make a backup to memory of the phone. On my previous N95 8Gb this was possible to the internal memory, the N97 only allows backups to a memory card... Anyhow, added another whopping 16Gb to the phone so I am kind of ready for disaster...

yeah ..... the memory on mass storage and memory card remained - it was just everything on the phone memory that vanished into thin air 😞

my contacts i had backed up to sim as well as on phone memory, so i just copied them back 😊

I had a problem yesterday where it was going incredibly s-l-o-w-! So slow in fact that it was practically unusable! I had to do a soft reset in the end. Thank god I had thought about scheduling backups only two days prior, so I managed to get all my contacts back and most of my text messages.

Now though, just in case anything goes wrong, I've set it to backup to my memory card at 3am every morning.

That's a good idea to schedule a backup - I can't fine the backup utility though, can you tell me where it is please?:icon14:

It's in File Mgr (by default it's in Applications -> Office, assuming you haven't moved it).

You can set the backup to be either daily or weekly, and you can specify what to back up (if you've got a memory card at all, I can't see any reason not to choose "all"😉.

Well recently I upgraded to Ovi Maps 3 and activated my 30 navigation license, downloaded the maps, and voices and decided to give the voice guided nav a try.

Unfortunately the GPS was not locking at all, no matter what I do. Two days later after I gave up I found out that my priority 1 internet was Boingo (why the f***, IDK!!) so I changed it back to my regular 3G access point and gave the GPS another try. This time it picked up a lock in less than 15 seconds, BUT.........all the maps and voices I downloaded vanished........WTF?!?!?!?!?

So I reinstalled them.

Not sure if this was the reason, but when I installed MAPS3.0 and run it the first time, it warned me that the old maps are not compatible and asked me if I wanted to delete them. I said yes.

I installed the map data after I upgraded to Maps 3.0 then they decided to erase themselves.
