thanks

I think when I looked at mine for the first time the other day it had 54mb? Does that seem right?
The C:\ drive's total size is about 70-80Mb IIRC.
54Mb free is jolly good! I can't seem to get any better than 25Mb free! At the moment I have 24Mb free, with the space being used up thusly:
90kb - Calendar
128kb - Contacts
241kb - Messages
0kb - Images
2369kb - Sound files
1840kb - Video Clips
37kb - Documents
0kb - MIDP apps
1456kb - SIS applications
43MB - Other files
I'd like to know what some people have done in order to get so much space free on their C:\ drive (I know about Google Maps' and Web's cache already).
For those apps which came with the phone and you know where to find an instillation file you could un-install them and re-install on mass memory to gain some extra C.
😊
I want to know why they only allocated 70mb to something that fills up so damned fast and causes so many problems when it's full!
Bloody phone's got 32gb. I'd have happily sacrificed a gig or two...
Symbian partition magic anyone?
D
i have 38.9 free on mine, the reason that i asked is because after i did a hard reset this morning, i'm sure i ended up with more mb than i did originally.
i wish i could tell you what space is being used up on the c drive but i don't know how to do it, all i can tell you is that i have put nothing on there myself other than phone contacts
😊
The Apps that I have on C: are...
AccuWeather - 883kb - Where can I get this?
Amazon - 1MB - Where can I get this?
APIBridge - 61kb - Sounds integral to the OS
BBC iPlayer - 553kB - Has everyone else downloaded this from the BBC directly? Is it the same as the pre-installed one?
Client Platform - 249kb - Sounds integral to the OS
Facebook - 1MB - Where can I get this?
Facebook Installer - 25kb - Dunno why this is here
License Manager - 331kb - Sounds integral to the OS
LightSabre 5th Edition - 568kb - The lightsabre blog said to install to C: otherwise it won't work
Ovi Store Client - 205kb - I dont think I have a choice either way with this one
Slideshow - 353kb - I think I saw this on Ovi store
YouTube - 13kb - Checked m.google.com and it wasn't there... just a link to the mobile site (although that's what this "app" does anyway)
If only you could change where the cache for Google Maps and the Web was kept (like, on mass storage or something) then this wouldn't be such a problem.
When there are apps running in the background , the processes are using the RAM memory , which is a part of the C: disc . The more apps run , the more RAM is in use . When Apps are killed , RAM is increasing again . Some apps like Contacts , Calender and Messaging are using the C: disc in Hidden Files . Messaging however can be set to Mass/Memory Card . How to save C: memory :
It's written for 5800XM , also S60 V 5 device : http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/84082/&highlight=Save+memory

I'd followed those instructions already, but thanks for the suggestion nonetheless japi_nl
BTW just cleared web cache and got 3mb back... up to 27.2mb now, but its still uncomfortably low
