E51 Built-in Back up application.

Hi,
I use an E51, for which I have never updated the firmware.
My firmware details are:
100 32.20
29-09-2007
RM-244
Nokia E51 (226.02)

I'm thinking about applying the latest firmware, and I know I need to backup the contents of my phone, although I'm wondering how much of the internal memory is backed up to the zip file created by the backup program (I back up to my memory card).

For instance, I'm with Vodafone, and I have a special access point profile given by them, so I can access e-mail. Would things such as this be backed up?

Are SMS messages (and folders) backed up?

Are Sync profiles backed up?

Any advice you can give me would be appreciated as I've never done a firmware update and I am understandably worried about bricking my phone!

Thanks.

After Firmware update (= hard reset) , al the information on C: disk will be deleted . The backup on card will save all your personal settings (customising) . When "Messaging" was set to Card , after update , restore from Card , you will find your messages again . Calendar will be deleted anyway , since it's hidden on C: , and doesn't have a backup facility on Card (why ? , I am desperate about it)
Contacts you can backup on Card : Contacts > Options > Mark All > Make backup (Card) . They are in E: > Others .
JAVA applications , when their icons don't show up , can be restored by Nokia Midlet Restorer .
