Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question.....
is there any software where i can see my SMS conversation with someone, you know with history and replies etc
My wife's SE does this out of the box, seems like a no brainer but what do i know :hmmmm:
is this possible yet?
PS there are some good new apps in the Ovi store
Nokia Beta Labs were working on a conversation app for the N95's, but it had a lot of problems. Think they scrapped the project so at the moment I don't think it is possible.
As for OVI yeah, finally got a spirit level and a compass. Interesting how the compass doesn't need calibration unlike the one on Nokia maps.
there's an awesome app called free iSMS that makes the texts look just like the iphone's conversation. google search for some screenshots of it, its quite impressive. and its free. the problem is its unsigned, so you have to sign it yourself. many many people are using this on their n97's and it works great.:icon14:

Had a look for it and it seems like it'll do the trick... except I can't get it signed. Symbian signed won't sign it for me.
nor me. and i don't much fancy posting my imei to sites i can't read...

That's
exactly what I thought when I read the instructions on the Daily Mobile Forum on how to get a certificate to sign apps.
I have the same problem in getting it signed through Symbian Signed.
Keep getting the following message when I apply:-
"FAILURE: Submitted .sis file uses a UID that is not allocated to the account holder matching this email address (0x200218f0 0x200218f0 0x200218f0 )"
Has anyone managed to get this signed, and if so, how?
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, miss the Nokia Conversation on my N95. :frown:
Conversation worked just fine on my N95 8GB, and it was a great app. I'd be very disappointed if Nokia abandons the concept.
I signed free-isms using signSIS, with a .cer and .key I got from one of the Chinese sites. No problems whatsoever.
Every person who got their cert from the chinese website got it working successfully. You just gotta go for it. I am gonna try it.

Would be very grateful if you could post "idiot proof" instructions if it works please.
I don't have them but someone did post idiot proof instructions over at howard forums in the isms thread in s60 forum. Thats what i will be following when i get ready to do it.

Bon chance then, as the French say. :icon14:
Instructions to get key & cert here: - http://mynokiamobile.org/2009/07/05/how-to-get-a-certificate-and-key-files-for-nokia-s60-mobiles-in-hours/ with pictures so even I could do it...
Once you have the cert & key, you'll really want to install FreeSigner (from http://blogen.junnikokuki.com/tag/freesigner/ ) which enables you to sign applications on your phone.
I just signed iSMS using it. Works a treat...
You might have to wait a few days, but it works fine once you get the certificate. I had to copy and paste a few bits of text into google translate also to figure out the links, but mostly painless.
I got mine signed and installed earlier today.
Got to say it's a great effort by the developer and does exactly what it says on the tin but it's still a bit jerky and not that pleasant to use.
Nokia (yet again) should really have got their act together with the SMS interface - the current one is ancient. Okay, they did Conversation, then seemed to shelve it. It doesn't work at all on their flagship device and they never quite fixed it for 3rd Ed anyway ('Text editor already in use', anyone?)
Nokia! What. Are. You. Thinking?
Which version are you using Halon? I've read reports that v1.03 was quite sluggish, so much so that a lot of people went back to v1.02.
I went straight for 1.03, but will give 1.02 a go now - thanks for the heads-up.
Hey .....
It's not letting me download the free signer from jonnikokuki - computer says internal server error, and i've tried both left and right clicks on the link to try to download it.
any ideas/different links ??
thanks

Same here i'm afraid! Got my certificates from the guide. Cheers dave! Just waiting for freesigner to come back to the page! Unless someone can host?
I've added an interim link on my site. It's at: -
