SpbTV gets big update

Fans of Spb Software's rather nifty world TV application, SpbTV (AAS shop link, support us by buying this way), should note that it has had a big update. Version 1.1 (download page) for all Symbian/S60 devices adds lower quality streams for anyone on a slow or weak 3G/EDGE connection, adds full support for TV out (making your smartphone into an Internet TV appliance!), plus better startup notifications (percentage reports while index building). Plus a litany of minor fixes and optimisations for a wider range of devices. Recommended.

What does the application do ? Is it like Bbc iplayer. . ? A little review of Spb tv would be great as its not that well known.

It just stream a bunch of tat programs from difference sources and countries. Mostly in a dodgy language. You have to pay for channels like Sky News which is the only one worth watching from what I've seen. Nothing like the iplayer.

Allows you to watch TV from a number of different countries. I tried to buy it but the purchase all went wrong then no response from their support so I steer clear now.

Hi all!

To Berty:
SPB TV comes in two versions: free and paid. The paid version offers 100+ live TV channels, at no extra cost for any one of them.

Please let us know which online store you tried to purchase SPB TV from! It is most likely the source of problem.

The link to purchase from the SPB website goes to Handango. The purchase failed (page not found) after I put card details in, and I could not get any response to reassure me that my card would not be charged. In fact my card WAS charged, I didn't get any license key and the amount is to small to waste time trying to recover.

If it is available anywhere else then I would be interested.

SPB Software. Thanks for the suggestions, I've tried support@handango before. They just don't bother responding, and I've checked logs and spam filters etc, they haven't bothered to even acknowledge my enquires. I will accept losing my money as the cost of lesson that taught me never to go anywhere near handango again.

I will try buying from the other place. This software is useful to me as I use it to keep my ear tuned to other languages that I speak.
